I understand your thought process behind this, but I think You can not paint alla prima or wet in wet” with gouache.Whether the painting is completed in a sitting or not it doesn’t matter the paint will dry within a few seconds, varnishing will bring out the true values after but what about the process I don’t think it’s practical to do it after each and every mark you make either.

@@dishashr well what I mean is laying each stroke mixed to the wet color/value and disregarding the shift while drying knowing that they will all shift back after varnishing eliminating the need for layers

Yes that’s one way you may approach it, but what I meant from painting in a single layer is achieving more accurate value mixes in one go, painting in layers is almost like correcting those value mistakes. We can varnish both watercolours and gouache but usually almost nobody varnishes a watercolour painting. It is advised to not varnish gouache (by the paint makers) as it changes its visual composition. I never varnish my paintings as I don’t feel the need to revive any sunken values.
