My favorite song ever. I dedicate this to my son, Tyler. He walked with me thru my journey thru hell of breast cancer and he, God and this music saved my life.

Sounds like you raised a good son there Star Baby. Cancer sucks. It took my mom, dad, and my older brother. Lotsa' friends too. I get thoroughly checked once every year. So should Tyler! I'm glad that you're still with us to "tell your tale" ... stay strong and stay WELL. ~~~~

Absolutely the most underrated band ever. There amazing, if you don't like the mule, then you just don't like music. Warren Haynes is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Not to mention he wrote what I think Is the best song ever. Soulshine. Mule for life

Not to mention at the time this tune was played he was also the lead guitarist for the Allman Brothers and played along with countless others, one busy dude and no matter what he plays, he plays it the best.

Great guitar leads by both Warren Haynes & Audley Freed. Freed .. a guitarist from Burgaw, North Carolina, started his professional career on the Southeastern club and fraternity circuit. He then formed the band Cry of Love, which was signed to Columbia Records and released the debut album Brother. The album spawned two No. 1 and two Top Ten AOR hits, including “Peace Pipe”, named by Billboard as one of the “top 50 AOR songs of all time”. Following a second Columbia release, Diamonds and Debris, and another Freed-penned AOR hit, the band called it quits. ~~ Soon after, Freed joined The Black Crowes on lead guitar. His tenure in the Crowes included tours in the U.S., Asia, and Europe, recording the album Lions, and sharing the stage with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page in a collaboration that led to the gold-record-certified Page-Crowes Live at the Greek album. ~~ A frequent on-stage guest at Gov't Mule shows, he co-wrote and recorded ”Life on the Outside”, a song on their album "The Deep End, Volume 1", which featured Sly and the Family Stone bassist Larry Graham. Freed also appears in the companion documentary, Rising Low. Freed also plays guitar on the 2008 Gov't Mule release, Holy Haunted House, where they collaborate on a complete live rendition of Led Zeppelin's fifth album, Houses of the Holy. Freed is also a frequent guest guitarist at the annual Warren Haynes Presents the Christmas Jam, a benefit for Habitat for Humanity, taking place each December in Asheville, NC. ~~ In early 2003, Freed joined guitarist-singer Alvin Youngblood Hart and his Cry Of Love bandmate Robert Kearns in the rock quartet Job Cain; both played on Hart's 2005 Motivational Speaker album. ~~ In 2004, Freed joined Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson's solo project, New Earth Mud, co-writing and recording on the album This Magnificent Distance and playing lead guitar on the subsequent tour. Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry tapped Freed as guitarist for his band following the release of his self-titled solo album in 2005. ~~ In 2006, Freed joined the Dixie Chicks for their Accidents and Accusations tour, which took them to the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia and culminated in a performance at the 2007 Grammys. ~~ Freed has written songs recorded by rock band Train and country singer Gary Allan, among others. He is an active session player in Nashville. Other recordings include songs by The Wreckers, the Dixie Chicks, and Gavin DeGraw. ~ He also toured with Peter Frampton. ~~~~~

I’m so happy Warren chose to share his gifts with the world!!! He is one awesome musician!!! I LOVE music and have to have it everyday! I have enjoyed his talents so so much! I have one question, WHY….is he so underrated? He’s way up with Zep, Skynyrd, ABB, etc. in my own personal opinion!!!!! Play on Warren, we love you and GOV’T MULE!!!

I like that $10 tix thing. I saw the Mule at Suede in Park City for $8. I was telling people in line, there is no other band that I would want to see tonight, then one inside. What a show 8 bucks

I was given a copy of this on a disc backstage after a Mule show, by Brian Farmer, Warren's longtime tech and friend to all... on it was written "T-Nug", which it has become affectionately known as, in the FaMule-y. It was from the Roxy in 99, as correctly identified by others below- Audley obviously contributing. Also on the disc I was given were versions of Spanish Moon, Wish You Were Here and a special acoustic version of Soulshine with Tim Reynolds. This disc is probably one of the most treasured discs in my collection.

I hung out with Farmer once backstage at a Mule show at Moe Down. He showed me all of Warrens guitars and we just shot the bull. He was a really nice guy. Yes I agree he was a friend to all.

I can't say for sure, but there's a good chance this is from April 99, with Marc Ford on guitar. That's when they were busting this out every few shows for a marathon encore.
