#72hrs
Hi folks,
just a little video on what 72hrs of supplies might look like as the UK government has advised us ALL to keep at home.
now obviously there is many things absent from their list that we would all add, but as a starting point, I'm all for it .
check out on ‪@UKUrbanPrepper‬ a recent live QA session where we attempted to cover this issue in detail.

Good easy to understand video,i definitely recommend ration packs as they've got plenty of calories,I use them and eat them quite often for outdoor adventures and building camps, just had the chicken and vegetable biryani and it was tasty, the old ones are ok as long as they've been stored well, those gas stoves are about £18:00 in home bargains atm, I'll look forward to the follow up video 👍

Good video mate, very clear and concise imo. Another good product, imo, for those that might be really struggling with space is the tiny camping stoves that screw directly onto the gas canisters. Not as user friendly as the bigger stoves but I watch a few camping/bushcrafting type channels and these are all they use. They cook up some excellent stuff with them as well. Some are very expensive but some are fairly cheap and will do the job with some practice. Obviously check where and how they should be used. I also think that the advisory is a great idea and may get people thinking a bit further than assuming everything they need will always be available when they need it. Trying to figure out why they're doing it is a bit of a waste of time unless by finding the answer you're planning to head to your bugout shelter or whatever. I rarely think too much about why/how something is happening but how it may affect us and what we can do about it. Thanks for the video. Cheers.

Cheers for the feedback matey, appreciated. I struggled to try to keep it on topic of just 72hrs regarding the recent announcements as it easily grow arms and legs and say I'd add this, this and this. So tried to keep it relevant to the advisory of 72hs and based off their list. I will do a follow up in a bit of " ok, so you have 72hrs , now what?"

@@Scottishprepper73 Yeah sounds like a great idea. You could also mention some EDC type stuff as well perhaps? A torch on your car keys will fill one need and could be useful in the vehicle at night as well for example. I had typed out a heap of stuff around what's going on in our region atm but then I was just sounding like the doomers. Interesting times for sure.

Good video SP, I’m sure seeing what 72hrs of stuff actually looks like will help some folk. I pray everyone has that already of course, surely even non preppers should have that I’d hope..although I realise some people relying on food banks etc might not be able to of course. I love the Wayfarer meals.. I think I’ll just plump for twelve all day breakfasts 😂..hope you’re all good my man, take care, Mark

That seems like so much for 72 hours, but I understand that different-sized people have varying caloric intake. I never eat breakfast, for instance. I think that being a faster works to my advantage. So, for instance, if people do not have a ready supply like this, then by day 2, all they will be thinking about is food. So much so, they will become unproductive and non-functioning. I teach people to find water supplies, know how and where to find water, and filter it. Of course, as a prepper, I have ways to prepare and cook, so there is no issue here; the only issue is the length of time and the fact that supplies will not be infinate. Why is the GOV advising this? Is it to simply put it in our minds, or is it a warning of something to come? And why only 72 hours of supply? I have noticed the internet acting oddly over the last week; some, such as Microsoft in particular, have had huge outages. I believe something is going down. And I also believe it could be in the form of cyberattacks, which would affect transport and the supply chain, meaning food would not arrive at supermarkets. My advice is to shop now; even if you have a limited budget, you can begin to buy enough food to last you a minimum of two weeks.

I will do a follow up video on this. I tried to keep it on topic for 72hr subject which was tough! Looks like a lot but it's circa 2000cal of tins there which is average female intake and 500 less than a male, much will depend on size, activity etc but it's a good base line. Appreciate the support 🙏

Great video, simple and factual. The display of what the 3 days worth of food is also a great visual for people new to the idea of prepping - it would have been better if you had also added the amount of water to the food to show just how much storage is going to be needed. I think the 3 days notice is just to bring the UK in line with other country's who have already issued such warnings and as we are coming up to an election, they want to try and be in everyone's good books - since the other county's started, there has always been the continued slating of our government for doing nothing, now that they have, they are still getting slated 🙂 As you said, the 3 days is a good starting point and maybe it will act as a kickstart to people and make them start to think about extending the 3 days into a weeks worth and searching the internet for more information - such as this video - slowly getting drawn into the prepper mind set.

I was going to buy I'm some water to do a visual display but I already store 165 gallons In other storage ,then bought a.load of more food yesterday so being honest I was too lazy to carry gallons of water up the stairs lol. I will do a follow up vid to this " ok 72hrs ,now what?" To gointo a bit more depth on linger tern food and kit circa, what 2 weeks looks like. 72hrs a great staff but hope to encourage at least 2 weeks.

@@Scottishprepper73 Lazy bugger 🙂 I would go for a weeks (7 days) worth, as that is still going to be a massive pile, if you add in the water, some very basic first aid / medicine supplies, battery's. Also maybe a pile of tins to represent pet food for a week Not many people are talking about pets. 2 weeks worth would be nice, but I think the normies are going to have to be eased into it and if you add it all up, it is quite an outlay

We have a large family. I tried to stock up on items due to covid but it was difficult to try get the family on board with it. I switched to the camping food sachets and stored them in a separate room away from everyone. I’ve been quietly prepping for 10 years. I’ve found that storing water is the hardest thing to do believe it or not due to the volume.

Hi there am new to your channel. Saw you on UK Urban Pepper the other day. Thank you for going through this list so thoroughly. I started prepping seriously about 2 years ago and the first thing I bought for my preps was a gas stove and some gas canisters, so I can at least heat water for a brew or washing myself. I spent many years in the Army so can say rat packs are simple and gives you everything for 1 day including your tea, coffee and some snacks they don't taste too bad the Veg curry is my fav cos you get a separate bag of rice. I live in a tiny flat and only have a small area for my preps. Another thing I have in my preps which some people dont think of is small bin bags and biodegradable toilet bags, f the water goes out and you are stuck at home the bathroom will start to smell pretty quickly and the bags you just put over the toilet and throw away or bury.

Good to see a video/commentary without the sneering - sneering at folk who are real beginners and only have this advice to start them off; at people who only want to/can only get the govt's suggested basics; sneering at govt advice - ok it's not perfect, but it's something at least. Hopefully it might encourage folk to go a bit further, but if not, then at least they have the very basics. Big Wayfayrer fan here, better to my mind than the military rat pack offerings, but each to their own.

I store a good portion of my food as canned goods. I made sure to have plenty of openers as well. I have several like the one you've shown among my cans, a couple of dozen P-38 and P-51 openers, and a Swing-A-Way with a large crank, to be used if someone has an issue with their hands.
