Nishesh is impressive. It's hard to see a player with that combination of firepower, pinpoint control, and shot ANTICIPATION at the college level. He was able to run down most of Govind's drop shots not because he was particularly quick (he is quick!) but because he somehow knew that the shot was coming. This forced his opponent to repeatedly play the extra shot. Also great touch and control at the net for a "baseline" player. Ready for the tour if he wants to give it a go.
@texasfan58Ай бұрын
I'm betting the tour will be hard for him because he won't be able to call as many balls out
@crosscourtwinnerАй бұрын
given he's a small-medium height, steady, mid pace type of player with no standout weapon, i think he will struggle to break through challengers. it's just a prediction and he could make it to top 10. who knows! but i can't help thinking he won't make a big dent on the experienced tour players with this gamestyle. at least with medvedev, he is super tall and can run down every shot and won't be as effected by wide shots and kick serves.
@pistolpete023Ай бұрын
@@crosscourtwinner Some standout weapons I see from watching several of his matches: 1) Stellar returns, even against big servers 2) Great point construction; can hit big, especially on the backhand side, but waits for the right moment 3) Great serve placement 4) Very good at reading and anticipating opponent's next shot. I don't see any glaring weaknesses. It's impossible to predict if he'll have success on tour, but I think he stands out enough at the D1 level that he'll have a decent chance.
@crosscourtwinnerАй бұрын
@@pistolpete023 i’d love to see him have a great pro career because he seems like a nice hardworking guy. but i’m struggling to see the breakthrough of challenger level for him. i agree, his returns are good but he is playing college players that are serving down the middle and keeping it away from the lines most of the time. and he barely has to move when returning a 2nd serve. i feel that his current game won’t be explosive or steady enough for the highest levels on the tour. but if he builds a little more consistent power and pace, he’ll do great. and since he’s young, i’m sure it’s a possibility for him. but clearly we have different opinions, so all good 👍🏽

Nanda has elite movement but no real weapon that could hurt Nishesh. Particularly noticed this on serves where Nish would step in and crush and rush. Felt like he was in every single one of Nanda's service games. Nishesh's technique is very clean too. Not trying to do too much, high percentage tennis, and plays within himself extremely well. Overall a really high quality match from both

I think Govind needs to stay off KZfaq for a while. He's a great player, but his forehand doesn't seem to do much against top players. His forehand seems to be consistent but not a weapon. I played a UTR 12 guy from University of Texas-Arlington, and I never could get a beat on his forehand because his wrist drag was insane.

Not just Indians, but Asian-Americans in general. Asian-Americans do really well in high school and college tennis, but you might wonder why there's so few Asians in the top pros. I think it's because many traditional Asian parents will discourage professional sports as a career path due to its instability. Having a lot of athletic achievements is simply something they use to boost their college applications, and later their resumes.

Modern tennis at its best. Stand on the baseline, use a 2hbh, use the most artificial equipment and strings that will assist you in every way and bang the ball as hard as you can. What happened to tennis. It’s not the players in this video it’s the nature of the game it’s been permanently altered.
@mrinalkanwar8066Ай бұрын
Show some respect. Takes 10s of thousands of hours to get to this level and many don't even with that effort. These are atp top 500 level players and they don't just hit the ball harder cause of "artificial equipment and strings", they have better biomechanics and athleticism than players from past generations. Sport evolves. The olden times were difficult and required a different game. Seems very out of touch to diss "modern tennis". And no one is in the stands cause it's a college tennis match.
@TimTheMusicManАй бұрын
@@mrinalkanwar8066 don’t get the wrong impression. I’m criticizing the game, the player is sort of the innocent victim of the modern game. They are forced into the artificial equipment and the type of game it has become. it is the equipment. Videos don’t lie. Watch this and look at the performance drop of ‘so called’ top 10 players try to use original equipment. This is the equipment real players had to use decades ago when it was a requirement to possess the skills and develop top spin and control and power on one’s own. The entire game has changed due to the equipment. The 100’s of strings available today are essentially giving the player what they need. All grade school high school and college players in every sport practice 7 days a week. This equipment is damaging to them and the game. Once a player today has to use what players had to use decades ago no one will ever critique any past player. 75% of the game is missing today. And all players are robotic. They mirror one another. You cannot tell the differences in their games. The strategy’s are the same. There practice sessions are exactly the same. There is no uniqueness and it’s all due to the equipment. There are so many ATP pros that would not playing today if they had to use original equipment. The game is not the same. It used to be a Broadway show. The multiple personalities. Their was intrigue. As soon as the tennis bodies were paid off by the manufacturers they let this equipment in and it ruined the game. Tennis is not about speed. It’s craftiness. It’s control. It’s drop shots. It’s volleys. It’s serve and volley. Just standing on the baseline and trading shots has taken all the interest away. The fans are not seeing uniqueness. It’s very robotic now. Trust me. I’ve been arguing this on YT for years. I have witnessed it 1,000 times. As soon as one player breaks away from the norm and does something unique that is the first step. But the equipment has to be changed back. NCAA will not do it. They were paid off as well. So it’s not the players here. I’ve commented on 1,000’s of players. Someone should listen to me and break away. They may have a real chance at something then. Right now it’s one large pool of everyone doing the same thing. 🙂 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNeVfNyn0dzKeY0.htmlsi=_Mf4ZEcviv0mWSxZ
@dannylaza1326Ай бұрын
@@TimTheMusicMan I agree and disagree with you. I complain all the time to my brother that everyone does exactly the same thing, same strategy, almost like chess. Everyone does the same thing and nobody will change from that, it's pretty boring. The equipment is indeed better and I think that's a good thing though. Most rackets are more arm friendly now. You can get very arm friendly strings and rackets, that's a good thing. How many people have injuries and arm problems with old equipment? I personally play however I feel like playing without the same strat as everyone else, I win a lot of games. I also lose games to people who I'm better than because that strat everyone is taught is a winning one. It's just what is it at this point, I guess.
@victor.sandru8449Ай бұрын
The game evolves and it’s more entertaining then ever. Old people like u have this obsession with keeping the same boring chip and charge style with wooden rackets. What do u expect?
@grimsonАй бұрын
It can still only be done at this level by tiny fraction of players. This is like complaining golfers don’t use persimmon woods anymore. Why would they? Times change, sports aren’t oblivious to technology.
