You are completely misunderstanding what he saying. Iterative deployment means an excuse to release as FAST as possible, via early, frequent releases. It means getting it out there early to get feedback as fast as possible, so they can rapidly tune, tweak and release software earlier. It is the OPPOSITE of what is referred to as internally reviewed, delayed releases.

I believe OpenAI has already achieved at least AGI. They will deliver chunks as u said to test it out. With SORA I have no doubt they can actually produce longer segments of video but the cost os too high to open it up for free to play with. I believe there is also text to audio where those SORA clips can have also speech, the characters can talk, there will be ambience sounds, sound effects, so I think the movies will be 100% aundio-visual integration. I think nobody will get ahead OpenAI. They are waiting to see what others release to outperform them. There are amazing models but none reaches the quality of answers from that of ChatGPT. I firmly believe AGI is out there already, that OpenAi has so much more we cannot even imagine, and possibly they are on their way to achieve gid-like power with ASI. I do not think there is any higher man made power than ASI and whoever achieves it will be the quasi god of the earth.

OAI has been iterating for years. Trademark application dates have virtually NOTHING to do with release dates, Sora is only an application and being contested (late to the game). Check out the Apple trademark registrations; hundreds of names/products that have never come to fruition. Music generation will come out when it comes out, it's not part of GPT-6 (you're looking waaaaay to deep into these TM descriptions), imho.

Sam Altman doesn't say they will release "slowly"; he said "early" I.e. they won't be perfectionists and will release versions when they are Minimum Viable Products basically

It's interesting what Altman says about developing products. OpenAI seems to be so far advanced that they could virtually make a lot of other companies, and perhaps even industries, irrelevant. Therefore, it also radically changes the current economic model we all currently use.

I’ve been saying this for a few years. It’s a matter of time before there’s generations who grow up without human music for daily consumption. Live music will probably be more common like jazz and human djs potentially. The future is wild I think people will use ai music for general purposes as it will be so much easier to just select a mood and let the ai dj make you happy. That’s why I believe jazz and the like will be more common since it can be totally unscripted and surprising to listen to. Much different than the perfection that will be ai music in a few years. Pop music is already dialed in with ai to write the perfect catchy hooks and melodies and I’m sure ai has a place in editing that music too. Just another step to take the humans out of the equation.

There will be not GPT6 and no GPT7. It was only used of OpenAI so no one else uses it. We dont even know, if GPT5 will be named GPT5 or not.

You need to look at the filing date, trade marks need to go to an assessor first then the owner needs to either adress any isdues or state if there are none pay for the registered mark to go through. Minimum time frane to get a registered mark is 18 months with no issues and there is rarely no issues. (Former ip examiner) You need to be looking at the register for patents, not trade marks if you want to view the functionality. Trade marks protect what its called, patents protect what it does.

Patenting trademarks GPT-n does not necessarily mean that OpenAI will actually use them. They might just be preventing anyone else from pre-empting them, and/or giving their products such names (which could cause problems and confusion).

There is another gain from not releasing music and other things early. They can use that compute to learn new things and keep them further ahead.

OpenAI is not open anymore. If you look at the scene, OpenAI does not release models to the public, they release models through their API only. Its sad that the main "non-profit" organization is actually the smallest player in the opensource scene.

Interesting that they don't register GPT-8. One of the rules for Trademarks is that after five years you have to file a document showing that you're using the trademark 'commercially'. This might imply that they don't think they'll get to GPT-8 within five years. So three more generative models through about 2029, with GPT-8 probably arriving after 2029 but before 2030? In fact, they may be assuming there's not going to be any need for trademarks after GPT-6, but they've taken "GPT-7" just in case. So, they expect ASI well before 2029, and probably before 2027... :P

The reason why they won't release the music ai is in my opinion that the music industry is a minefield, everyone is reusing riffs and chord progressions to make new songs. Sony and Universal will sue the living dirt out of open ai if there is only one song that sounds similar to one of their money printing songs. The music industry has insane power.

I have an acquaintance at Op*nAI. She said they have a fMRI machine in there that's fine tuned to hone in on the section of the brain where scientists think consciousness originates and they have the data it generates piped into GPT6 which is hosted on this HUGE server that has all these boards with millions of high end FPGAs and ASICs in it. She said some of the test subjects so far have ended up FREAKING OUT when they turn the training up and have these weird hallucinations where they feel disembodied and report stuff about the remote environment that they couldn't possibly know (phantom presence, etc). A lot of them start bleeding all of the sudden from the mouth and nose and pass out and have been removed as test subjects and dumped in a nearby San Francisco alley with a bunch of syringes and stuff. Nobody will bat an eye at another dead junky. She said the next step in this line of research is to use the real time data from the fMRI and trained MindGPT to interface with a BCI/brain chip implat in another subject. Sounds like they are trying to *transfer* consciousness

Iterative deployment is in so many interviews of Sam Altman … did you miss his world tour? This not even remotely news. Also, they sat on GTP4 for a long time as well with some “public” in-depth red teaming at the end. Also, Sam has stated (world economic forum side interview) that he is considering to drop the GPT naming ... although that was still in discussion.

Regarding music I see three major risks for the companies. First are copyright issues with the music Industry in general as it is more likely to violate copyrights with music even for human artists. Second the sounds which are used im the training sets may very likely contain sounds from commercial sound libraries (like a specific piano sound used often in lofi). And third it may completely destroy large parts of the music industry which may be controversial for the society.

The recording industry will be up in arms, much like the film industry was, when AI starts producing music similar in quality to that of their artists.

I might be unusual but I stopped using chatgpt a while ago and switched to claude. I regularly use Bard, Claude but it is Pi that I prefer to chat with. For work I compare the results from Claude and Bard and for Latin and fun stuff I use Pi.

The music industry will push back on this. I can well established artistes using the courts to restrict the models from being trained on their music.

It seems to me that Sam Altman has realised that exponential progress of chatgtp is only possible with trillions of compute so expectations are being managed with the idea of iterative improvements when actually this is all they are capable of. Can't afford to burst that bubble!
