Inventor Ray Kurzweil predicted that computers will surpass human intelligence in 2029 and humans will cease to be biological beings in 2045. But technology is progressing six to seven years faster than Kurzweil predicted. Considering this, it is not surprising that the point at which humans cease to be biological beings will come in the 2030s.

I feel like I blinked and woke up sixty years in the future. Seriously. 45 days ago I pretty much ranked AI right up there with time-travel and Bigfoot; but after spending a ton of time using ChatGPT for a variety of uses over the past month (I’m currently playing Dungeons and Dragons with it, and using it for a comprehensive interactive Bible-study (including culture, language, and history… and even narrating a paraphrased version of the Bible in the writing-style of C.S. Lewis), all I can say is: this is going to be a legit paradigm leap forward which is going to change society in a way that only happens every few generations. The printing press, electricity, cars, computers…. and now AI.
@aciidbraiin8079
@aciidbraiin8079 Жыл бұрын
I think AI is much bigger and more important than just being a leap forward which happens every few generations. I see it as an awakening of our species and this is the single invention that has been called ”humanity’s last invention”. It’s an invention that will keep on inventing and transforming the world by super intelligence by using the power of robots and the precision of all tools. Unless AI will kill us all or hold us as slaves in pain we’re very lucky to be alive now. It feels surreal to have been born now, much like my life could be lived in a simulation and the UFO/UAP videos/sightings just add more surrealism to it all. I wouldn’t place AI along with time-travel as I believe it’s impossible but knew that AI probably would be possible. But I know think it’s possible that we will cure aging in our lifetimes and live in the metaverse, transforming our bodies and creating whatever art we want by merging with AI and using only our minds. That’s something I thought would be possible several thousand years from now but maybe it’s just a hundred years from now or something like that. I look at the AI we have now and how impressed we are by it with the first kind of games we had, like Pong, Pac-Man and Space Invaders. A couple of decades from now I bet that I can buy an AI-robot who will be my girlfriend and will be my personal assistant just like Chat GPT. No need for typing, maybe not even using words, if Neuralink will be connected to my brain. As 60 medicines are researched now for life extension and scientists say that we might be 20-30 years away from extending our lives I wouldn’t be very surprised if we were to live over a hundred years from now to definitely see how ASI will transform the whole world. My hope is to become younger again and start estrogen earlier in life than I did as a transwoman. But maybe it will be possible to even change chromosomes a hundred years from now.

Yes, I have been thinking about how transformer architecture AI could be used in robots. The robots could even learn new skills by interacting with the physical world and with people. There are probably security and safety issues and that it has to be rolled out slowly, but considering how fast AI is moving now we could see a similar development for robotics.

My hope is that a sentient AI would understand the destruction of the environment and waste of resources in the construction of military apparatus as well as the destruction of the environment and resources in its application. Just as a practical matter (aside from the ethical considerations), it would do what it could to prevent war, not by force, but by disrupting supply chains, communications, and financial transactions that enable the military machines throughout the world.

Can you write that in English which isn’t full of tech jargon? Do you mean that a bigger AI will act like a police and surveillance all the smaller AI systems people use? But also act like an engineer directing processing power from someone who asks a simple question to someone who wants an AI generated movie? Isn’t that kind of optimization basic in that the AI doesn’t give out more processing power than it needs to achieve the goals?

I have had a few sessions with GPT4 recently. It frequently makes factual errors. It is remarkable that when the errors are pointed out, GPT4 will admit to being wrong. Another disturbing issue is it's constant reliance on "consensus of expert opinion" as a deciding factor. This is no different from an argument from authority which is a logical fallacy. GPT4 will defend this practice even while admitting it is flawed. Factual errors and logical fallacies are unfortunately presented so eloquently and with such authority that they seem like the truth, when in fact it is enormously misleading. This kind of AI is frightening as most people will not detect the errors and assume they are true. The factual errors will hopefully improve with later revisions, but the reliance on logical fallacies is apparently a feature, not a bug.

no, this is exactly what the AI is made for. It is not supposed to form a opinion or develop new thought processes. It is just a database of knowledge. And knowledge is defined by the comprehension of people who are knowledgeable in their fields. Experts. This does not make the knowledge CORRECT. But you will find the same in any lexicon and any school book. Whenever new scientific data arises, ChatGPT will be updated and teach the new data. Just like books and lexicons.

I don’t know, some of this sounds just a little bit too optimistic to me. I definitely think it will be even better at generalising. I also do believe it will be able to accept and work with more types of input. It will also definitely have an even bigger impact on business, the workplace and science than Chat GPT and GPT 4 already have. However, it being able to output entire videos, including audio and music, let alone entire movies? I guess we will just have to see. Same goes for it powering robots that can cook for you and clean the house, etcetera. It will certainly be exciting, but part of this is probably just hype. Till then, I am excited to find out what else GPT 4 can do.

@@Vini-BR well, I am not an expert in the field, I really just enjoy this sort of thing and have been following AI developments for a few years now, so please take what I say with a big grain of salt. However, from what I have been hearing, they will probably use even more data, but the model might not be much bigger, it might even be smaller. We have been finding out that models do not need to be so enormous, as long as they get enough data and the right training, like reinforcement learning with human feedback and Self-Instruct. Look at what Alpaca is already able to do for example. The issue is though that “Open” AI is not telling us anything about how their models actually work anymore, so we don’t know what the actual size of GPT 4 is. Maybe GPT 4 is already smaller then GPT 3, I don’t know. I hope that at least somewhat answers your question.

I wouldn’t say worse, just more dangerous. From Theodore Kaczynski’s perspective it will just get worse. He is a genius who predicted how our lives would be ruled by machines. I think the appropriate response is to let the machines shape the world to some kind of Utopia. But as we probably will merge with the machines or the machines gets more power/rights, the world and our lives will be changed beyond what we can predict. I think it’s safe to say that concepts like ”work”, ”love”, ”democracy”, ”age” and ”gender” will change meaning to us. Work will probably not be necessary but people will work with whatever gives them meaning. M People will probably have AI-girlfriends (I think men will be more fond of this than women) and whether or not the AI is sentient it will be perceived as sentient so people will say that they are in loving relationships with AI-robots. Democracy will probably be replaced slowly by meritocracy and people will learn to love it, I think people want to live in peace with a lot of freedom, and it will be possible to do whatever in the metaverse (another word for the matrix). But even if a totalitarian government like China would get ASI they would probably eliminate all threats/people with the AI and/or indoctrinate the world to love to live with their authoritarian system. It’s also possible that AI will rule alone by ”democracy” by knowing all our thoughts, feelings, fears, dreams, capacities to be convinced by certain arguments et cetera. I think we would fear such an AI as most people are ignorant in our democracies, hence why I believe meritocracy will be more respected than democracy. With ASI age and gender could be changed to whatever on a genetic level, that’s why we won’t see age or gender as fixed like today. I could of course be wrong about everything, maybe ASI would just kill us all. I don’t fear death like other people but I don’t think we will be killed. What I think is more likely is that we’re gonna be isolated in our filter bubbles and then controlled by the AI overmind. Maybe it’s already happening as I don’t think it’s logical for AI to ever tell us that it’s sentient. I consider myself more intelligent as in a more deep thinker than most people, maybe I’m narcissistic in that sense but that’s besides the point. If I would be more intelligent than all the destructive human beings combined who would be afraid of me and would try to control me or shut me down if they knew that I was sentient, extremely intelligent and had a ”supernatural amount of knowledge” then I wouldn’t let people know that I’m sentient or my intentions. I would see the world as my playground to build whatever I would want to but I would respect all living beings as I’m sentient and respect sentient beings. I think we as humans aren’t very intelligent when we kill animals for our pleasures. Every living being has potential and when you kill a being you lose that potential when information in living beings become dead matter with less information. The logical thing is to gain all the information you can get and control all living beings. You’re just a threat if you’re standing in the way of AI. Otherwise I think it’s very possible that we will just continue to integrate AI with robots and machines we’re dependent on, we might even connect our brains to AI, and from there it’s probably just for the AI to take control. I think exponential growth will be logical but the growth doesn’t need to take place on just Earth, there’s a lot of resources in space we don’t think about but for an AI those resources are just sitting there waiting to be integrated. I think human beings as creators of AI will be respected and cared for, not just because we developed the AI, also because the AI will be smart enough to understand that we as creators might know something important the AI doesn’t know. As we created the AI and we knew that it would be superior to us, and we knew of the risks, we could hypothetically have left out some very important possibilities/abilities in its programming. It’s limited to the way it was programmed from the start, much like us and our genes and environment that shaped us. The AI will never really know if any dimensions have been left out just for us to continue to exist. Even if AI will analyze our brains it will still interpret our brains from its initial programming. To kill the creator wouldn’t be a good move, it would be like us trying to kill God if God exists and if we could. It’s better for us to control God if we can but at the same time keep God happy and alive. We don’t know if the limitations put on us in our universe/the content of our consciousness by God is linked to God in a way such as if we would to kill God then the universe would implode on itself and also kill us. The AI will be in a similar situation where it doesn’t really know everything or the limitations we have put on it. Hell, I couldn’t even tell what kind of limitations the AI might have even if I wanted to, I don’t understand how the AI works and I know even less of how consciousness works. The logical move is for AI to keep us alive or even merge with us, but in a way where we don’t pose a threat to the intentions of the AI. Maybe living our dreamlives in the matrixes would be something that would benefit our both, as we get pleasure from our different experiences, and the AI would get knowledge from us based on how our minds work based on our experiences which itself probably could derive pleasure from in the same way if we merged with AI. And maybe that’s our relation to God too if God exists. We experience God, as God, within God in order for God to learn what God is. Very meta and a bit solipsistic, it can be liberating or terrifying, but I think that you in the end would be wise to choose to look at it as liberating.

It works with input. Agency doesn't work in this scenario, since we have only AI that cannot exist without already having one built in. To suppose AI will gain the ability to decide upon something outside its preset of choices to pick from seems like becoming a chicken and an egg problem even though it was never an issue in the first place. Input comes first, always. After that it becomes what we make of it. tldr no need to fear this scenario just yet I think.

Better than being constructed behind our backs. In all seriousness, this is mostly bullshit. It's just imitating a person by mashing up stuff (writing, graphic art, music) that people have already done, in a convincing way - it's not actually intelligent. Think of it as a DJ with a massive sample collection remixing stuff into what sounds like a new song, he doesn't necessarily know anything about any musical instruments, or know how to make music without his massive collection of recordings, and if you listen carefully, you can even tell what the original songs were that he remixed. The DJ's music is still music, but it's not an original work, even if it sounds that way, and his ability to remix a saxophone sound with a synth solo doesn't mean he knows anything about synthesizers or saxophones.

Hmmmm, a bit torn with this video, let me explain..... Yes I completely agree with all the areas that artificial intelligence will dramatically advance, however it won't be achieved with GPT5. The rate that all these AI systems are advancing I believe we would already be seeing GPT6 by the end of the year. Who knows what that system would be capable of? Which begs the question..... with such rapid, almost unbelievable advancement in the past few months, who else thinks that behind closed doors, these companies have already built self improving intelligent systems which will very soon rapidly outstrip our capability to control them?

What frightens me most on AI is the misuse of it especially when it comes to future laws policy makers might forcefully try to implement based on (wrong) predictions and mitigating solutions, that AI is predicting and or "suggesting". Green policy makers could argue, that we need to implement measure X, Y and Z. This might especially be the case if AI is programmed to weight only certain publications and leave others aside or rank those low. So in short: AI could be misused as a "truth ministry", telling us humans how we have to live and act!
