Thank you man! I did this mod to my Asus Phoenix RTX 2060 6GB (single fan card) and WOW! Massive difference to fan noise and better thermals. Noctua Slim fans are defo worth it IMO. It was nervy chipping away at the plastics with a nail cutter but the end result speaks for itself. Yes, a super clean mod.

@@roguemoHi, just replaced...its still single fan...but much quieter. Even tho RPM is generally higher, which is impressive.

I have a 3080 that used to have 2 fans 90x15mm. I replaced them with 3x 80x35mm artic cooling pressure optimised fans. At the same 32dB sound output the temps went 5-7c lower compared to stock..

Good to hear that. Sure cooler because arctic fans are 2.3x as thick, and total area covered by three fans is larger.

I would just strap the whole fans onto the heatsink without the shroud itself, or print my own one to fit in the fans. The frame also helps in the airflow and air turbulence.

In worst case you ruin the fans only. Search for replacement parts before doing this.

I really feel that GPU fans are really sub-par. Simply replacing them with case fans made it better.

could also just ziptie it to the heatsink, not very pretty but very easy to replace if it breaks

Aesthetics is important for me. Sffpc is special thing and each build should be an art.

Damn. Having some impure thoughts right now about mutilating my ASUS DUAL 4070 Fans that get high pitched and loud when spinning up, even though I know my 120 Chromax’s definitely wouldn’t fit in there lmao

What temps did you have and what temps did you get now ?

I did this mod on many cards. Difference can be up to 5°C depends on shroud or heatsink design.

What if you changed it to an argb fan? Can you still change the color of the fan if it’s connected to the gpu fan socket?

There are two connectors, one for fan and one for leds. Rgb must be connected to mainboard and not gpu, you can change color.

You probably should first replace thermal paste and pads. And yes, try this for even more better result.

What makes Noctua fans what they are is not only the blade geometry and motor. The frame plays a huge part. This is a waste of time and money, unless you like the looks.

I don't see any waste here, tested and better than stock fan. I could just ziptie noctua to heatsink and gain a tiny improvement, but I chose to keep the stock shroud for best looking.
