I find 5700XTs are almost immediately available for $150 with almost no effort. The 1080 I actually got on ebay... I think I've bought like 7 or 8 of them at that price in the last year.. I put them in systems for my broke co workers that I've been handing out like candy

​the crazy thing about the 5700xts ek waterblock for them on eBay are only 20$ with the powerplay tables adjusted it can get close to a lower end 6700 when clocks are pushed to 2400mhz

Honestly I'm kinda partial to the strix... I'm probably going to buy one of each manufacturers Pascal cards, so far I have the strix, the evga, and the aorus

If you are not a 4090 buyer, I think amd will make most buyers happy

I'm gonna do another one with more solid $60 and under cards with no caveats, two of the cards here have major deal breaker caveats to them that make them basically useless to most users

The one in this video is a non Ti, however, I do currently have a Strix 1080 Ti in my Plex server, which I am going to probably replace with maybe a 4060 for AV1 at some point and free up for use for making 1080Ti content for the channel. The other one is a Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme 1080 Ti that is currently paired with a 12100F in my dedicated build that drives my TV

X99 is good, ive got one X99 build on hand, it was originally slated to be sold for profit, however, now that I am moving toward doing tons of hardware content on KZfaq, I am considering retaining it as X99 is such an iconic platform and you see more and more people flocking to it now that it is actually a budget platform. I have my primary GPU test rig built on a 10 core X299 platform

@@dragonsystems5973 I just bought a gigabyte x99 motherboard (Ebay $75) and a xeon e5-2680 v3 ($4 ebay). Found out about the turbo unlock with the v3 CPUs after i bought the 2697a v4. Its hilarious that these CPUs msrp price were in the thousands and now hardly break $50 on some of the better SKUs. The rarest is the e5-2679 v4, a 20 core 40 thread 200w beast meant for liquid cooled servers.

🙂 i think X99 is having like a small cult following by people that are Tinkerers, anyone that has a streak in them of an Engineer or Scientist, you see others picking up X58 and X79 as well, I suggest if you see any top end EVGA motherboards out there in the wild selling for cheap to pick em hold just because. Its easier to replace burned out chips but not so easy to replace motherboards, so Stock Up

@MrSamadolfo I saw a complete X99 build on the local market last night with an EVGA board for $60... I saw it the moment it went up, but I had to be up to early and it was bed time... but I did pick up a 9900k complete buil with a 2070 for $100

Actually I think 12th gen is one of the best budget options out there today. I've put 12th gen in all my mid range builds, in addition to my 13900K I've got a 12100F, 12600KF, 12700K, 12900K, and 13700K

And it's worth noting, THIS is the future. Buyers of ultra low new hardware are now far better served going this route, but people are too busy whining about prices to see the forest through the trees.

Have done a lot of 12th gen budget builds: 12400F, 12700KF, 12900KF. They have an upgrade path to 13/14th (not sure if that is/will be worth) but the issues with gaming stability should be sorted in a couple years or less I figure.

yes Microcenter has a bunch of intel and amd bundles right now, for video card I really like the recent price drop of $220 on the XFX RX 6650 XT 8GB (replaces the 5700 XT 8GB) it uses a single 8pin plug just like the 1080 but its alot faster and has newer technologies and instruction sets which are very helpful to run Alan Wake 2

I have not messed with it, everything I've heard in passing though has been that the card was generally a disappointment and the faster memory is a gimmick... my next long video will be on the RX 5700 XT, and thats the one that has a good rep

They also perform worse than a 5700xt due to drivers

I've heard they're good compute cards rather than for gaming and were really desirable during the crypto craze.

I've been testing a 780 the last few days, stay away from it, it has compatibility issues now. Although slightly slowe a GTX 970 is a better option, or 980

🙂 i recommend the 5700 over the 5700 XT, some of the 5700 models uses a single 8pin power plug, that way u can safely use them with lower tier lower watt power supplys

@@dragonsystems5973 🙂 oh wow, i payed $130 for my 5700 nonxt 8GB, its a special secret undercover video card that was put out only for Dell Alienware prebuilts, nobody talks about it, it uses a single 8pin plug and its undervolted so it can run pretty much on any 400 watt power supply, on the listings it might say OEM DELL ALIENWARE 5700 XT, it has two fans and a simple generic red amd radeon circuit board, doesnt look like much, and it looks like a really slow card but it performs close to an RX 6600, i should make a quick video on it just for fun 😊 but yeah pretty much if you see a 5700 its basically a 6600

I get a kick out of all the whining. Everyone goes on and on about "why can't we go back to Pascal?" But they are soo busy riding the "Nvidia evil big green" train that they dail to see the reality that RTX 3080 is a better value at this point in its life cycle than 1080ti was at the same point. Or the fact that if you still want Pascal, 1080(Non Ti) can be had in the bargain been... I've seen them go for like $50... and paired with even a decent like 5 or 6 year old CPU that card will run most games at low/medium 1440 or high/ultra 1080
