This is my old m6! As an OG Hoovie subscriber, it’s awesome to see it end up in his hands. I previously sold it on Bring a Trailer to a car collector and it looks like he never took my EZ Tag and registration stickers off. I collected all of the paperwork for the car since it’s original purchase into a binder that should be with the car. If it’s not, I’m happy to share all of that as I still have it saved on my computer. Enjoy! It’s my favorite car I’ve owned, and my third bmw v10.

If you eliminate the SMG nightmare with a manual the only big issue are rod bearings. Just plan on replacing every 60,000 miles. This is a scaled up F1 motor that revs to 8200 rpm. Throttle actuators can fail but not a big job to change: I replaced my failed actuator and the other side just to be sure and while I was there replaced the injectors.

I've owned my manual 2007 m6 since 2013. Up to 101k miles. I tried to keep it under 100k miles for as long as I could. I wish I had the updated euro style headlights and seats, that came in 2008-2010 model runs. I plan to do the rod bearing service at a reputable BMW service shop in the next year. I have a dinan stage 1 tune to remove the speed governor, which I can confirm worked. The car seems to consume about 1 quart of oil per 1200 miles. I do the same thing Hoovie described the previous owner did--wait in the garage for the car to warm up before setting off. I will never sell my car because I perceive the style, V10 grand tourer with a manual, as never coming back.

Here in the uk there’s a company that regularly manual-swaps V10 M5s and they use the manual box and diff from an E92 M3 which apparently works well. I would assume it could be done to the M6 as well. As the ratios are shorter it reduces the theoretical top speed but is much better suited to the torque of that V10.

This isn't called the stupidest KZfaq channel for nothing. Congratulations Hoovie on your new BMW. I'm sure there will be much more content from this. You can always LS swap it if it goes too far south. Next level for buying this car sight unseen.

I wonder which v10 is more unreliable, the m5/m6 with the v10 or the audi s6/s8 with the “Lamborghini” v10
@destroyer85golf8411 ай бұрын
I have a M5 just like the one you had earlier on. Surprise surprise, it’s down right now with a trans issue. It’d be nice to see a manual swap and what all it entails. Maybe I’ll just swap mine rather than fixing the SMG.

The Carbon fiber roof was standard for the m6. The power button is to unleash the full +500 horsepower. Default startup mode is 400 horsepower. I had a 2010 m6 Silverstone metallic. I miss it soo much! The only major repair I had were the throttle actuators. I did have to service the differential but wasn't too major. All between 45k and under 55k miles. I think the thermostat was on its way out when I was selling it.

21k is a good deal for that M6. Let ninja sort it out (just replace everything known to go) and it's a sweet ride. Order the carbon intake manifold for the sound of brilliance!! Love the color combo.

As someone who owned an E60 M5 and an E63 M6, they are AMAZING cars. I sold my M5 for 10K more than I bought it 1 year later. Freddy hated it and laughed at me. But I was right at the end, they're shooting up in values.

@@lawrence2012v8 He made fun of me for buying one. 😅 But I also have a love-hate relationship with BMWs. I sold my E92 M3 and the E60 M5 for a G82 M4.

You should get the swap kit. It makes it look like it came that way from the factory if you do it right. @Drivetribe did that to their E61 M5 wagon and it looked great!

If I was ever so blessed to have money I would buy a 2000s V10 BMW and just do twin turbo LS swap. They look nice on the outside but I wouldn't want to mess with all that mess

At best with the SMG its a 20k car. Not rare or valuable. So go ahead and do manual conversion, exhaust upgrade, Eventuri intake, etc.

Wouldn‘t do the conversion… If you understand the SMG and know how to drive it, it‘s an awesome gearbox and matches the drive train so well! Although I usually prefer manuals myself, I absolutely love my SMG. It‘s special, it‘s involving, it demands you to actively drive the car yourself. Had no major issues on my M6 except standard maintenance, rod bearing service and one throttle body actuator/ new clutch at around 90k miles… A few remarks though: - All M6 came with a carbon roof, it wasn‘t optional. - Exterior was designed by Adrian van Hooydonk, while Bangle was the head of design. - The butt got lifted quite a bit on the LCI models - looks way better and still modern today.

Beautiful car I have a 2007 with 208,000 on it so as long as you stay on path with the maintenance you’ll have plenty of awesome drive time on this vehicle. This is by far my most favorite car to drive.

I’ve owned an E60 M5 and I miss it dearly. I was extremely fastidious with maintenance and it gave me zero issues even to the day I sold it with 90k miles. And nothing this side of a Carerra GT or LF-A sounds so good. Absolutely incredible car. Regarding the hatred of the SMG, it’s hugely overblown. It requires practice to use, just like a proper manual. It was never designed to be flat footed around, and I think a failure by BMW was teaching new owners how to drive it properly and calling it an “auto”

This is a beautiful car. I do feel like this will gain in value given enough time. It will never be a viper, but the M6 badge does hold prestige. I've got a more modern 640i, and it's a beautiful car. Well fast enough, huge, comfy. I love it.

I have to admit that I always loved these cars. I live in Jamaica and a reggae artist named Junior Reid bought one new. I saw it on the road all the time. He had a convertible and it was black on black. The sound of that engine and the curves of the design made it one of the coolest cars I saw as a kid. My Grandad had a E34 525i when I was a toddler and my love for BMW grew from there. The V10 stuck with me though. Very special car.
@Camride11 ай бұрын
Low miles are not great for these cars. I've got 140k miles on my '08 M5 and I'm still on the original rod bearings. If they're taken care of and driven they will treat you well. Good luck!
