And I love how with this song and a lot of her other recent songs she’s taking sort of a vacation from her classic 80s sound. The background strumming and drums and bass when the song really picks up sounds like it should be on a metal song like the band Tool’s Undertow album or their earlier work. It’s so crazy because that’s exactly what it sounds like to me

I remember the first time I heard this song I was hooked. I was eight and found it on youtube.x) Listened to it every day even though I didn't know the meaning. I came back here 10 years later and enjoyed it the same as I did then.

The most talented and creative woman in the music and art industry!!!!! Ever since her debut in the early 80's.....she has been a pioneer of visual and audio art!!!!! This video proves she is no woman to cross......no woman to mess with.......she knows what she wants and knows what she's doing!!!! OMG I have been in love with Grace Jones since the early 80's demolition man ....pull up to the bumper......slave to the rhythm......and so many many others!!! Grace is a groundbreaking artist.......a true one of a kind!!! Many have tried to copy her signature style and performance but there will NEVER be anyone like Grace Jones BUT Grace Jones!! Period!!! No question......no argument.....end of story!!!!!! Grace is truly the MOST original..unique.....avant garde....boundary breaking....visual and conceptual artist to EVER "grace" the airwaves!!!!!! Her vision and concept of her music and videos is comparable to NONE!!!! She says what needs to be said with no apology!!! She forces you to hear what needs to be heard......forces you to see what needs to be seen......no apologies...no censorship.....no beating around the bush!!!! The true and original raw real deal!!! No one will ever compare.....no one will ever have guts like Grace to shove it in your face and make you think about it!!! @davidgalan9921, Grace is, as you said, a pioneer of audio/visual art. Her recording career actually launched in the mid 1970’s as did her lifelong friendship with Andy Warhol. We were dancing to Grace’s first single “I need a man” in 1975. She dropped three more singles in ‘76. The first three of her ten studio albums were released in the late ‘70’s and received a lot of play in the trendiest clubs especially in NYC, SF, & LA. My two favorite albums by Grace were her forth, 1980’s Warm Leatherette, and her fifth, ‘81’s Nightclubbing. During that time, you could go clubbing and chances were high they were spinning Grace at every stop. She has always had a healthy respect for her talent and originality. Madonna has complained bitterly that Gaga copied her, when the truth is Grace was the first Queen and everything since is derivative or, as Madonna had the nerve to say about Gaga, “reductive”. I’m afraid I got “captured” by your tribute to Grace and took a long trip down memory lane. Not too many of us who were out and active in the ‘70’s are alive to reminisce. ☮️❤️

Thank you and I must apologize.....I made a mistake while I was writing.......I meant to write.......ever since her debut in the early 70's.......and that I had been in love with her since the early 80's. I accidentally wrote the 80's for both parts when I meant that her music had been around since the early 70's. I was so quick to post my deep admiration for her and her music I never proofread before I posted! Yes you are absolutely correct!!!! Her music dominated the 70's and ever since. Please forgive my error.....I had what I wanted to comment on in my head.....and I was typing so fast I typed 80's instead of 70's. So glad to get a reply from someone who appreciates her body of work as well! Nice to meet you and thank you again for your response!

Original Nubian goddess of the Studio 54 Era. No one can come close. Her family also moved to my home town from Africa. Her brother's band is called Black Uhuru and their mom still lives in Syracuse. She goes there every holiday season.

I saw Grace perform live about 7 times in the mid-late 80s in Florida. She was so intense! the ultimate performer, gracious, tenacious, outrageous, and the epitome of "WILD"!

Saw grace at an AIDS benefit concert in the late 80's. on the way to the stage she walked right by me I said hello and she growled at me like only grace could. a priceless grace moment

As with all Grace Jones, it just gets better and better, more and more relevant, as we finally catch up to her sound and vision. But this is the anthem of the times we are living in, she hits on every target, with a flame-thrower, or an ice-thrower I don't know which. maybe both at the same time.

Lady Gaga looks great, she can write lyrics and music, produces, plays the piano as well as the guitar and is versed in many different genres of music (Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Jazz, Electronic, Classical) ! Grace looks great and has great tunes but I don't see why you're trying to compare the two, unless it was just an excuse for you to trash Gaga ?!?!? Raffaele DePalma Some comparisons are made because a few years back Gaga mentioned that she admired Grace and would like to collaborate on a project together sometime, in an interview later Grace was asked about that possibility and she said she didn't do collaborations period. Gaga's fans got their panties in a big wad and went all over yt and everywhere else trashing Grace Jones. It was very tiresome.

I have to disagree. I think Lady Gaga's music is brilliant--lyrically and melodically. There is nothing flimsy about her sound--nothing at all. But, to each his own. I don't mean to sound disrespectful. But, Gaga's music really speaks to me and connects. Very few have crossed as many genres into one sound like she has (my personal opinion is that she does better than anyone, but to each his own). I am also a fan of Grace Jones, and I have nothing but good things to say about her. But, I think Gaga's better. And, no, I am not a young'un. I've been a fan of Grace for almost twenty years. I realize that there are people who have been fans for longer, but that doesn't change the fact. Grace is definitely an influence for Gaga--no doubt. But, she's even got even more darkness in her than Grace. Gaga's very deep and diverse; people just have to really give her a try. Either way, they are both awesome and I love them both.
