This was absolutely amazing. I am in a sorority at Ohio State, and everything you said is on point. You’re value does not come from this process, and you will gain more from finding a true home that shares your values than any other way of choosing. I think a lot of girls- especially at Ole Miss with the most competitive recruitment in the nation- take recruitment WAYY too seriously. I speak from experience when I say that recruitment is the most superficial part of being in a sorority. I promise you will find true and amazing friends and sisters in ADPI. It will even strengthen your faith- a lot of sororities rituals are faith based. I wish the recruitment process was different because literally everything else in a sorority is so different. Pi love

Hey girl! I went through recruitment at Ole Miss two years ago and completely understand what you felt. I'm now at UF and was part of recruitment from the other side and can tell you that we have your best interest at heart when we are choosing who to bring back! We don't "cut" because you aren't pretty enough or for other superficial reasons, we chose to remove girls because we don't think they will love being in our house - we want them to feel 100% comfortable, welcomed, valued, and chosen and sometimes that is in a different house than ours. If we don't think that they would get along with the majority of the girls in our house then we don't think it's fair to continue to bring them somewhere where they won't be their happiest and have the greatest experience. It's sounds harsh and the process isn't easy, but I can tell you that more often than not, these girls have your best interest in mind and want to see you thrive and become the greatest version of yourself. Hope that encourages you a little - or anyone going through recruitment :)

I decided not to join a sorrority because I dont like the lifestyle they lead. I dont really like to get drunk at parties and hook up. Ive seen what they do and it turned me away from it. Of course they do study related activities and have a career network...but I did not feel like I would belong there. so I just stayed with the friends I ended up makin in class and during courses. And its fine. Even if you just made 2 friends its okay and enough. You have to set a goal. and your goal is to finish school.
