i just discovered this choir a few days ago, and you all do a marvelous job, so I hate to be the one to point this out, but here goes... The chorus is: "... Than to be the king of a vast domain *and* be held in sin's dread sway..." "and" not "or". You see, that is the point of the entire hymn, if you are held in sin, then earthly riches, honor, power and prestige, really aren't worth all that much, certainly not to be compared to having Jesus. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, *and* (there's that word again) lose his own soul? Or, what shall he give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:26 KJV To be fair, many singers and choirs, even including the author/composer, George Beverly Shea have sung it the way you have it here, but it's not scriptural (If I may be so bold).
