In this Amazon Music album spotlight, Gracie Abrams reflects on the process of writing and creating her debut album, Good Riddance. Gracie touches on the writing process for the album, how much had changed and shifted over the course of making it and the at times challenging and painful work that went into writing it. Gracie also reflects on her important bond with producer Aaron Dessner and work together creating the album, and how both Aaron and the environment of his studio helped foster a space for Gracie to open up to create. For Gracie, Good Riddance was a self-healing journey, and although it had its challenges, was ultimately a fun process and one that was incredibly fulfilling.

I’m soooo freaking proud, I remember finding this girl when she had a couple thousand followers; I remember just listening to her music; listening to every song she had out and feeling so understood, her music was exactly what I’d been searching for and she just appeared, I love this girl to the moon and to saturn and I can’t believe shes gotten this famous. Everyday I want to gatekeep the hell out of Gracie and everyday I’m shocked to how many other people know of her, I’m incredibly proud she’s gotten this popular because she deserves it all. Thank you for demonstrating through this album what the stages of a breakup are like, when it was released I had finished and I didn't understand anything because everything was going too fast or too slow And I understood everything that was happening and that this was all just a phase and it was at that time that I found out who my favorite singer was. I don’t know how, but this álbum managed to be comforting and painful at the same time to me. Sometimes I feel like I can relate to everything there, so it hurts to listen and also feels good to have someone organizing all Those feelings into beautiful tracks. There is some sweetness on that. Going from being so breakable on Fault Line to finding low key hope on The Blue, is such a delicate feeling. My fave album of 2023 so far.

Been a fan since 2020, through those years I've seen you progress so much as an artist and your music is so comforting to me. This album especially got me through a really rough time this year, it helped me think through feelings and emotions I had suppressed for so long. good riddance got me through my first breakup. It was the most relatable album I had ever listened to. Gracie, your music held my hand when I repeatedly blamed myself, it called me out when I was wrong, and it burrowed itself in my heart like no other piece of music has. This album is incredible and caught me off guard completely. I had never heard it her before and it arrived on a random playlist on spotify. There was something about it that I had to check more, that was a few days ago and I havent been able to stop listening. Im genuinely afraid of overplaying it but I don't think it could lost its incredible feeling and sentiment. Top top album, great work !

I cannot explain how much I love and respect you. I’ve been listening to your music for over a year and of course i do like your whole discography but Good Riddance feels different, I have never listened to such a honest album before. It’s definitely my favorite album of all times and I’m so thankful that I get to listen to it. When you released the album back in February I was going through a breakup, it was really painful to lose this person because I was also losing a part of myself. And when I tell you this album made me realize so many of my feelings, I’m being totally honest with you. I’ve realized so many things I wanna improve about myself and the way I treat myself. I could go on for hours just telling you how much it means to me but I’ll say one more thing: gracie, no matter what happens in the future, you and this album are a huge part of my life. I’ll forever remember Good Riddance. I love and appreciate you a whole lot, thank you gracie, we’re family.

I am so so proud of gracie. I've been following her journey and watching her music develop from 2021..and this literally makes me shed a tear. gracie has helped me through my fall out with my best friend in the seventh grade and comforted me when no one did. listening to her talk about her raw self and how that shines through her music is so real and true. im so glad she feels so vulnerable with good riddance, its such an important album to me. im so excited to watch her evolve into the future, but im also so proud of the present. she went from a girl writing songs in her room with an acoustic guitar or ukulele to now opening for taylor swift. ive been absolutely in love with gracie and her music for 2 years now. im going into the tenth grade in september and i dont plan on stopping loving her. ily gracie
