Around 6:00 in, Gracie brings up a point that I think is worthy is serious discussion. Figure skaters are incredibly restricted in their ability to express strong emotions. Like she says, even the small slights amongst ladies are reported on. Where does the performance end? I can’t imagine the ways that perfect happy persona bleeds into all aspects of public-facing life. I’m very happy (albeit shocked) to see Gracie talking about her mental health so candidly - and in the ways figure skating contributed. I’ve always looked up to Gracie, I’ve seen every skate of hers. She is beyond courageous to give voice to mental health issues without shame. I’m in treatment for similar issues, and I feel a solidarity with Gracie.

That is a WONDERFUL recognition. Skaters must look beautiful and happy and controlled while doing the difficult and out of control. Skating is not the only sport where that is required (gymnastics comes to mind, and ballet though not exactly a sport) but it is a bit unusual in that regard. I suspect that requirement always be lovely and controlled under fire puts uniquely difficult stresses on skaters and gymnasts, etc. Good call. ❤️ Appreciate Ms. Gold's speaking out. Only the truth will set us free.

Chamique has such a comforting way of speaking. I think whoever she talks to would be able to easily open up! Great interview.

So excited to hear what she's been working on, and that she's looking at different styles. Her routine to 'All That Jazz' remains one of my favourites - I hope to see her with that kind of confidence and presence on the ice again. Also just so grateful for her openess on mental health.

Feeling safe to be yourself and share is so important and rare unless you pay for it. Many patients try to find compassionate trustworthy listeners for years or even decades.

Yass. Gracie getting recognition for Sochi bronze. Adelina and Sochi was a scam and absolute scandal. Gracie should have gotten bronze, Carolina silver and Yuna Gold. This interview recognises the Sochi scandal

Gracie needs to learn how to let go. If she thinks that she has done her best, then that’s it! Enjoy your moment and prove yourself again at the next competition. Being a top sporter is never healthy and nobody can be number one all the time. Let it go, Gracie. Enjoy your programs and performances, and the spotlights
