Costs more for the home owner though and he put material only a few inches on top of the native driveway so isn't gonna sink that much. Maybe 🤷

His Toyota matrix made it to 720k before he totaled it in a snow storm, his shoes were knocked off but he didnt even have a mark on him...I know nothing to do with landscaping but it reminded me 🙂....I love my Harley rake,on my dingo 525 it's a great tool but obviously a full size has its advantages as I can see! I have been doing driveways for a long time with just a box blade. It's all in the angle with the top link to set the distribution depth. Drainage is important for the edges of the driveway and to finish the driveway with a bit of crown to it. If you do the water will run off and avoid the formation of puddles. Standing water being driven over creates puddles. My driveway challenges are all related to being to cheap for the necessary gravel. That stuff is expensive.
@p8ntbal4me3 жыл бұрын
You do not put Crown in driveways unless they are 20 feet wide and there is a reason for it Crown goes in a road not a driveway
@RobertSmith-pr8hv2 жыл бұрын
He is wright, been paving for 35 years owner for 30. Most driveways do need a crown , if they are on flat ground, crown it or rework the base to slop from side to side, every job is different challenge, biggest challenge is people don’t want to pay the price to do the job wright, then they wanna complain about everything. You can’t make everyone happy. Thats why i shy away from residential a-lot, just depends on the customers, doing it 36 years really helps judging my apenion.
@consaka12 жыл бұрын
@@p8ntbal4me lol you are soooo wrong it isn't even funny. But hey you like your driveway to be one giant series of puddles go ahead and don't put a crown on it or slope it. I prefer crown because it keeps water movement slow enough it doesn't wash anything away when it rains and doesn't build up enough to form puddles like flat will every single time.
@p8ntbal4me2 жыл бұрын
@@consaka1 I said crown,… not slope. I didn’t say flat either. By that comment reply alone,…. You verified you don’t know the industry standards. I know I went to school and studied for the AIA. You don’t crown a driveway….. ever. You can super and slope change left to right with a roll. But you don’t crown them….. ever I run a 772GP for my larger jobs and a 695 for the smaller ones (driveways). I hub my work,…. Cut to grade……
@consaka12 жыл бұрын
@@p8ntbal4me I'd never hire you. Other professionals here have also collaborated the proper way to do a driveway. I prefer to crown the driveway because you get the longest puddle free life from it that way. Happy customers for sure. Your customers have to call you over and over each year when it rains to have you redo their driveways. I cut the angle for each side and the back grade the loose stuff in the middle. Sometimes I just cut the angle on each side and then have new gravel put over it. Leaves a nice crown that will last for years if treated properly. It's common sense and works great. If you had to go to school for common sense. Well you may need to get at least a partial refund. Lol
@Jacob-zd4gj3 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon, I would recommend that you don't use the soil conditioner like a bulldozer. You will bow or bend the drum. Ask me how I know lol. A roller would have made that a runway.

You know, if you want to get into doing driveways as an added line, you might want to look into buying a Gravel Doctor machine. It has 15 scarifying teeth that you can raise and lower hydraulically, you can scarify forwards and backwards, it has a two sided cutting blade on it so you can do that forwards and backwards too. You can also raise it and lower it on the 3-point, tilt it forward and back, and roll it clockwise and counter-clockwise; all hydraulically and controlled from the seat of your tractor. You can actually use the factory designed hydraulic valve box, or you can use the tractor's rear-remotes. I know a guy in Indiana who does that. I also used mine to excavate a few inches of dirt to make a stone shed pad or light duty parking pad. (Geogrid underneath the stone). Very efficient at that. BTW, I always suggest an inch to an inch-and-1/2 of well compacted 57's on top of a gravel driveway. It keeps the rain from washing away the fines. Just my 2 cents. Love your channel.

(Gonna try a 2 mower setup) If so, what size and type would comfortably fit any size deck? (Probably no bigger than 60in) Have a great day! More questions to come soon! My setup would include 1 bigger deck zero (60) turn and a smaller size stand-in (42 or so).

We use alot of recycled asphalt/concrete here in the PNW, way cheaper and stronger than Virginia 5/8ths rock. Especially when you wet it down and roll/ compact it with roller and plate compactor in spots the roller can't get too.
