Here it is folks. Sealed Mint / Mint. No dust corners perfect zero damage brand new. Nearmint/mint Opened but record never played.(this is done to prevent warps sometimes shrinkwrap can shrink if exposed to some heat etc) NearMint/Nearmint. You cut the shrinkwrap nicely the record may have been played once or twice it should look and play as if you got it that day it is perfect just opened no visual marks when played only the music is heard anything that idicates its a record is not allowed like a tick even one tick sound swoosh sound anything is not allowed also everything included is Nearmint posters postcards original innersleeve that came with the record is there in perfect brand new condition Not even the slightest corner dent its literally brand new just opened. Very Good Plus the record will play with NO indication its a record you hear only a clean record NO ticks or anything other than the music the record may have slight marks but only if they dont affect play (this is going to be difficult to judge without playing the record all the way through). The label of the record should be clean of wear. All items that come with the record should be included and in nice condition with only slight corner wear it may have slight indication or wear it has been used or played you would need to list missing items in description. The cover should not have ring wear, splits, excessive price tags no tape etc. Just slightly noticeable wear from use is acceptable. Very Good. The record will have some visible marks. You will be able to hear ticks, swoosh sounds and other things that you can hear scratch marks on the record when played but not excessive and the entire record cannot skip. There may be wear on the label or price stickers on the label of the record. The cover may have ring wear, corner dents, price stickers, tape, slight clouding of the cover art work the original inner sleeve may be split or missing. Good. The record may be quite scratched with continuous noise over the music but not skip. It may have price tags on the label the label may be very worn. The cover may have water spills on it. It may have ring wear, corner dents, clouding of the artwork, it looks like a lot of wear. The cover may have tape on it. Price stickers. It looks used with a lot of wear the cover may be split. Fair. the record is trashed it skips it has excessive wear tape and price stickers on the label. The cover is water damaged it has tape and price stickers the cover has ring wear and clouding over the entire cover its trashed. Poor the record may be cracked and some is unplayable it has skips on the playable parts the label is very worn clouded. it has tape on it. it has price stickers. The cover has extreme damage or may be half missing art work from water damage and being stuck and pulled apart from another record. the cover is extremely damaged and no original inner sleeve. the cover may have ringwear clouding price stickers tape its in very terrrible condition looks like it should go it the trash. What you need to grade records. A bright light. knowledge of what a brand new record you just opened looks like. A magnifying glass to look over the record. A record player to check parts that look like they may not play through clean to check.

Well done. 👍 Agree totally across the board and anything but VG. Is basically garbage. Thanks for comment!

I spend far too much time cleaning and improving my sleeves at the expense of actually listening to the records ☺️. I got into using acrylic paint a couple of years ago on the sleeves. The improvements you can make to worn seams and spines is amazing. Just got to mix the right colours, take your time and don't get stressed! My approach is you can't make it any worse than it already is. I'm guessing you also use some paper glue to stick down any bits of a damaged seam/spine Dan? That's the first thing I do with a pasted sleeve. You can't go wrong with the eraser though, always very satisfying results. Cheers Nige

Agree. Definitely use a glue stick. Easy to fix lifted parts that way! 🎉🎉🎉

I’ve had luck on felt markings in the front cover with the magic eraser. But be carful not to press too hard though

I attempted to remove pencils marks from a red label once. Started to remove the red and made a faint white mark before I stopped while I was ahead. Also left indentations behind. You can never really get rid of a pencil blemish. Great video as always.

I actually have some records that look below vg visually that are in my top 10 favorite sounding records in my collection. The two I’m thinking of are psychedelic sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators 67 stereo press and Zeppelin ii RL.

I’m finding all this rubbing very stimulating. Like your honesty on grading. Wish others had the same integrity. Maybe do something on fixing skips and working on warped lps next time. Thanks 🖖🚀

Hey Dan... what about excellent condition? I always use that in grading, because to me VG/VG+ means it's probably got a fair amount of (light) clicks n' pops. Whilst in my book, excellent means maybe the odd very light pip, but not quite NM. I also use isopropyl alcohol, and mix it with distilled water in a 1 to 4/5 ratio, and add a few drops of a wetting agent. It appears to be the generally recommended combination amongst a lot of vinyl enthusiasts, that I've been using for years now, with no issues so far.

@@dotsloops7486 I think discogs don't, but you could be right regarding Europe. I know here in the U.K., excellent, as a grading, has generally always been used by most folks. But it's the old adage... "one man's excellent, is another man's very good" or vice versa.

@@brucster99b2Excellent is a very useful grading, I use it myself when better than VG+ and not quite NM. I actually created my own grade on Discogs as Excellent (NM- / VG++) I think that’s pretty clear and useful for most folks.
