Watch as I Re Grade the new driveway after Gravel and cement trucks packed it down, and pumped dirt up in the center and the edges. Also I fix a stretch where a Semi got stuck just that morning..

Thanks for taking the time to make this video and explain what you did and why. I really appreciated this thank you. I've like your video and subscribed. I have a similar problem on my acres here in Australia, and once I get my tractor and blade there, am really looking forward to doing the same to my road which is about 710 metres (2,500'). Thanks again.

Seems like a very light duty blade for your tractor. But it works that's all that matters 👍

Your next toy: A grader with a 12' blade ; -) Nice to see the Kioti can get the job done though.

It appears you may need an eventual top coating of some good road base with gravel to prevent sliding around. Here in Colorado we have too much gravel and have to add clay to hold the road together. Grading becomes an art, but once you know the shape of the crown and not to play in it when its wet, you can keep the road in great shape with just a few passes occasionally to fill in the ruts. Been doing mine for 20 years with a 1957 Case tractor and an 8 foot blade.

So far for the last 4 or 5 years this road has held up very well! We did not use a base layer after discussing all the options. It has a higher crown than normal so that no water ever sits on it. So far so good! Thanks

The man who built this road did a fantastic job! It has held up now for 6 years with no 'base layer' heavy stone!

When you were using the blade, did you drop it all the way down in "float" and when you back dragged , did you have it in float. Just picked up a blade and learning. thanks

Yes, most of the time on a rough grade like this, I just drop it all the way down, good luck!

Rule number one of civil work stay off the area whan it is wet, rule number two seal the top with a smooth drum roller every day to stop water getting in.

Hey Kap, did you cut the road that wide to provide a fire break? I had a bad experience with fire in Bastrop TX with some property I own there. Luckily, the road provided a break for my property, but everything around me was burned to the ground. Property has no value as a result.

As great looking as the roadway is, it seems to be an 'invitation'' for larger vehicle to slide off to the sides. Is it possible that there's a tad too much crown on this road.? A small road grader and many loads of gravel would do wonders towards stabilizing the road. Of course that's easy to say as I am not the guy who has to pay for all that. I'm thinking that a box rake would be a good tool for that Kioti too.

I'm posting a new video of me cutting off the crown of the road.. Next step in a few days will be to fill in the low spots just to 'get by' for the remainder of the home build, and the winter... Then in spring we'll re grade the whole thing...

Kapper, you do have a beautiful home and property there ' in the making,' and I'm thinking that a lot of the beauty of this project is that you can do a lot of it yourself. I have subscribed previously, so I'll be waiting for this video. Thanks, and good luck.

Sounds like your not happy with the driver. If so and only if so, it is the contractor's job to ensure there is proper access to and from the site. It's your job to maintain the roads. If you are not saying it is his fault, I'm sorry in advance.

are you going to gravel it?
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 8 жыл бұрын
yes, for sure. I'm going to wait for it to dry more in the hot summer. once it's shaped so water runs off the more it dries and hardens the less gravel you will need. if I put gr as vel on now it will just sink into the soft dirt..

Just curious how you expected that big truck to stay on that road....too narrow and way to crowned....its clay....worst shit there is for a driveway.... by the way...nice tractor.
@kapperoutdoors
@kapperoutdoors 6 жыл бұрын
It is 'way too crowned' on purpose, because it had to last for all the trucks, and the thing was plenty wide, we were getting semi's in.

My arsenal is not fully complete yet.. I do have a 6 foot box blade that I repaired, but I haven't mastered it yet for sure.. Seems like they hold too much fill while your working them, but I suppose the flip side is that you have more control in where you release the fill?

its a 30 horse, and i probably need a bigger one as i can bog the snowblower (and in fact the blower was out today ; ' ) thinking kubota but looking at kioti too. yours looks a nicer size and it is impressive that it pulls a pulldozer through that hardpack

Well, I've been a tough critic in my 'tractor' life, but I call em like I see em... And That Kioti is really a monster machine... I've got almost 500 hours on it.. As long as it doesn't have any kind of major blow up it is just an outstanding machine.... I tried out a Kubota, but didn't really like its operation too much. But that was a Shuttle, which I don't like to begin with. Good luck!
