I’m new to grafting & new to growing seedlings. Thank you for sharing your details about grafting! I’ve been viewing your videos for a year and a half now and I live in Lockford north of Modesto. I am looking for sources for scion varieties. I would love to try grafting with your favorite giant avocado- Since you have great experience & have great results with your giant avocado would you be open to selling/ sharing your bud branches with me for my first grafting experience? thank you for your great videos. Your yard is amazing. Truly a garden of Eden. I’m not familiar with all the varieties, but I have begun researching it, and I thought I’d reach out to you since you were in my “neighborhood!” I have a few Hass seedlings. What I still don't understand is the fact that you have to seal and wrap the top of the scion to not dry out. They contain the buts that I want to grow but with the tape it's not possible. How do I know, when to take the tape off so the buts can grow

I watch your AVOCADO step by step grafting video. I love it. My clarification are: 1) how old should the rooting plant suited for grafting? 2) Should the scion and the rooting plant be of the same variety? 3) wjat if I use different variety? Should the scion be the one of good variety? 4) Can I use any material to wrap the scion? Thank you. This is Mr. Flor Padayhag

1. About 1 year old, 2. It doesn’t matter the variety, 3. See #2 and yes it should be of good variety. 4. You can experiment with wrap, plastic wrap has been used…. Happy growing! .. Jeff

I am a beginner at this process, but have three seedling avocado trees I would love to begin grafting . I have a couple of questions. 1) Exactly what type of tools are you using? Is that a scalpel and how do you sterilize your tools when working? 2) where can I get ahold of Good Sion material? Do you sell cuttings from your fruit bearing trees for grafting? I live about an hour south-west of your area.
@TropicalGardenGuy
@TropicalGardenGuy Жыл бұрын
I use a box cutter razor knife. I sterilize by using alcohol or peroxide. Sorry, I don’t sell stuff. But u can find scions sold on eBay and Etsy

Hello my name is Peter from South Africa when do you remove the grafting tape on a successful graft.
@TropicalGardenGuy
@TropicalGardenGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi peter, This type of tape is very easy to tear, it fails apart naturally , other types you might have to remove after a couple of new leaves have formed
