To coincide with UH Arts + Culture's exhibition 'Volatile Creatures' we interviewed Graham Boyd about his life as an artist.
When reviewing the artist’s practice over 50 years, it reveals a steady progression of work underlined with a fascination for the hidden forces of nature. His New Hampshire Grids of the 1970s were meticulous and repetitive drawings contrasting with the expressive, large, colourful paintings of the 1980s, but have combined to inspire the artist’s most recent work.
Graham Boyd continues to work from his Hertfordshire studio. Boyd is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Hertfordshire and was Head of Painting and Course Leader in Fine Art at Herts College of Art and Design from 1976 to 1993 (which is now the University of Hertfordshire).

Sorry I can't get to see this show although I was lucky enough to see your retrospective last year in Uppingham. It is so heartening and exciting to hear you talk of the power and dynamics of colour the way you do and then see it in your work in this film. You continue to inspire me as you did with the colour studies I remember doing as your student many years ago. Thank you and I wish you all the best with this new exhibition.

Looks like the work he's doing during the interview is made with acrylics. They're showing on his table at 13:03.
