Video mostly says everything of the similar and differences between the two, cheap one is the hornblasters version of the graham white and the graham white is the genuine valve that locomotives use. I did not mention is the finish on the hornblasters has a styrofoam finish to it
Disclaimer: NOT FOR KIDS- doing this action is done at my own risk. Dealing with Genuine Locomotive Horns Such as Nathan Airchime and Leslie Controls produce extreme loudness and these horns do NOT comply with Local Laws and authority and this is A MISDEMEANOR. operating such devices WILL cause permanent hearing damage loss. Operate such horns at your own risk.

Now by having duel springs are you able to quill it easier?

I thought the Graham white was the one with duel springs… did you switch them before the video or was it like this the whole time?

I have the horn blaster one and I took the second spring out. Even with air pressure I could not pull it the spring was super steong

Yeah the spring in the cheaper one is strong, but it gives better control when it’s mounted solid and tryin go to quill the horn

Was always curious how these compared. I've only ever used the HB one, and its hard to get a quieter tone with it, but I do run at higher pressure (120-ish) so I imagine that makes the initial uptake a bit stiffer.

Hello thank you for the very informational video, I was wondering if you had an idea of where I could possibly buy the true Graham White Valve.

Very informative video. I just got one new from eBay and it's the genuine one, not the one Hornblasters makes, as it does appear to have the rubber grip on the handle and it reads "Graham-White Salem-VA" on the body. However, my spring tension is really stiff without any pressure in it and it has a single-stage spring inside just like yours. Do these have to be broken in to get the effect you're getting or does mine happen to be a re-built one with a different spring in it? Edit: Well, it appears that after taking it apart, this actually has 2 springs in it. I'm guessing that my valve is already set up for 2-stage honking instead. But it doesn't seem to stop half-way as yours did. It's just stiff all the way through. Still haven't put any air through it but after removing that secondary spring, BOY was it much easier to move it.

andre100BNSF thank you for your feedback! Removing the smaller spring makes a big difference, however when you put air pressure into it, I get more control with both springs inside as the secondary spring act as a buffer or damper so it doesn’t act as a single stage. If you can mount the valve onto something rigid it makes quilling the valve much easier even with 2 springs with pressure.

@@NickSilcox3 Haha, yeah. I finally put air though it using my RL K5LLA and man, it sounds much better than using a ball valve as I did before. It's not as sluggish as a ball valve and there's definitely more precise cutoff too. I'm still only using the single spring now but I will try the secondary spring soon. I agree though, it's a little hard to control without it mounted to something. I had to use my thumb while pulling just to get it to go down all the way.

So I bought a used hornblasters valve and when I open it up half way a small amount of air gets through but when I crack it all the way it closes off completely. Do you have any idea what to do?
