DJ and musician Steve Aoki candidly reflects on the sacrifices necessary to stay at the top of his industry. Aoki - who has performed at least 250 shows per year for 15 years - says his current schedule doesn’t allow for a family or children, but he wants to have kids eventually. He refers to his experiences working a large crowd as “the ultimate high” and gets introspective recalling emotions he felt earlier this year when performing back in his hometown of Newport Beach, California. Aoki remembers his best friend, who passed away in 2020 and encourages viewers to embrace every moment spent with those who matter.
Aoki goes into more detail within his 2019 memoir “Blue: The Color of Noise,” which is available on Amazon - tinyurl.com/yktbww9v.

I mean money is a necessity it's the password you're going to go that determines whether you're going to get married or you're going to do what you love and usually whenever you do what you love it's a solo Journey. So he's accepting the fact that whatever he's going to do with his DJ life. And I get that because some people are not ready for a relationship and they want to focus on The Courier and sometimes love happens then happens if not then it's not really a obligation to have it

Damn this really hit home. I’ve always gotten the things I wanted but it never made me happy long term. Now I work hard, focus on experiences with people and try not to worry about the stuff someone else has that I don’t. Have ZERO regrets. The phrase I live by now is “short term satisfaction leads to long term struggle, while short term struggle will lead to long term satisfaction.”

This reminds me kinda of Schoolboy Q loosing Mac Miller and many other artists. Looks like a hell of a life for us people who aren't famous in general, but we should think about how much people do sacrifice for this kind of life...missing their families, etc. Success, for me, is character. Success is being the best person you can to yourself, others around you and the environment in general. People who think success is measured by a number still need to work on their characters.

3 of my closest/best friends didn't live past the age of 26... I still miss them everyday and it is coming up on almost 12 years. The only assurance I have is knowing that I will see them again in eternity. Love those around you and cherish that time with them. Life is short but it doesn't end here. I tell myself that daily and focus on the promises/purpose Christ still has for me. Great interview!
