Have you never listened to older Bruno Mars? Especially his album 24k magic? He’s been doing this style of throwback r&b since his debut, really. But it was around the album unorthodox jukebox when he fully committed to it and then he perfected the sound on 24k magic (full of 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s nostalgia). You should react to his older stuff, especially his live performances

Man thank you for mentioning Bruno’s pitch. In addition to vocal power & styling, bro most human beings sing a note at least slightly off once in awhile. Like, damn son, Bruno is not one of them dudes. Not an easy task. Even some of the most beautiful voices hit slightly off at least a little bit on occasion. In interviews Andy Paak even mentioned how in this project, Bruno pushed him a bit & having heard his work with his own groups, it seems to be true. But it shows that it was always there for Andy too. He says the dot in his name represents detail, & you can tell he honed in on it & brought it next level. I’d agree that this performance is almost like an upgrade from the original. Soon as Andy starts croon-hummin before his verse at the very beginning, it’s like, ‘aw sh___, these cats about to bring it real time!’ Sure enough, by the time Bruno drops his ad lib twists, & THEN they finish on the remix ending with the harmony too? The pop music world should be put on notice, a new standard of excellence, wit a whole lot of attention to detail. Anyway, great reaction!
