Gran Canaria Uncovered goes UNDERCOVER in 4K 60FPS!! to visit the Saturday market at Aguila Roja (AKA The Irish Centre) Playa del Ingles.. Also held every Wednesday, there are a lot of interesting and inexpensive things to buy here. Fancy a Designer Bag, Trainers or a Rolex Watch then you might find it here - but did you bag a bargain with low priced genuine items or are they cheap fakes? Surely counterfeit goods would be illegal and this is the EU after all. We went exploring so you can decide for yourself, and take care, cameras are not very welcome here. Meet The Crew
Julie: Creative Director, Camera Operator #1. Julie is the one with a finger on the pulse of Gran Canaria, what to film when and where, and she is the one who mingles most closely with people and captures many the close-up party clips.

Ive been going to Playa Del Ingles for over 30 years and only been hassled a few times. Happened far more on mainland Spain than in the Canaries. As always I'm vigilant, as I woukd be here in tne UK, but always felt relatively safe in PDI. As form the Market of course they are all genuine items. 🤣😂🤣 Happy Holidays everyone. xx

It starts about 8am or 9am. We were filming around 11:30am I think. @@danielyoung6954 This is where the market moved to, it used to be in San Fernando which is just outside Playa del Ingles and it moved here over a year ago

What days is the market?

In Playa del Ingles it is Wednesdays and Saturdays at Centro Comercial Aguila Roja, which some people call 'The Irish Centre'. There is a similar market in Arguineguin on Tuesdays and you can easily get the public bus there from Playa Del Ingles or Maspalomas for about €2 pay on the bus cash. There is a larger (and some say nicer) market at Puerto de Mogan on Fridays - you will find a lot of the same sellers there but Puerto de Mogan is much more scenic. Again you can get the public bus for about €4. Arguineguin and Mogan both have nice harbours, beaches and promenades and are worth a visit.

I from *suluxs* bought a Birkin and I went into Louis Vuitton at South Coast Plaza with a friend who wanted to buy a card case and we received great customer service. They offered us water..LOL I would never buy authentic knowing that are just as good.

Went in January full of fake t shirts and trainers and football shirts etc

Kinda like what we found then. We've bought Lacoste Teeshirts and similar and they are quite hard wearing and not a bad deal for the price. The trainers I would avoid, inside the sole is often made of cardboard and they collapse after a few weeks. I'm not saying that are all made like that but it puts me off buying again. The bags are also good quality and hard wearing. Hope you enjoyed the video 🙂

Playa Del Ingles I unfondly remember as being my worst holiday ever. I’d previously travelled & vacationed at similar destinations, but that gawd awful holiday was the worst. Full of predators deliberately targeting young & female Brits. Would not take no for an answer unless it was with a lot of intimidation & threats, no matter how nice you were to say “no thanks”. Horrendous place

Sorry to hear that Brenda, I guess we can all have bad experiences. When did you visit? We moved here permanently from the UK in 2016, my wife Julie says she always feels safe here, before we left the UK it had gotten so bad she no longer went out at night alone, even to walk a quarter of a mile to her mum's house. It's much nicer living here.

@@GranCanariaUncovered A good few years ago now. Maybe it’s not so bad there now or I had just picked an unlucky time to go, but it was a miserable experience. I’ve been to other places in Gran Canaria & have had great times. I loved Playa de las Americas & it has always been my most favourite holiday & despite its party reputation, I actually felt quite safe there, lol. The bar people, street sellers & “lucky lucky men” as we called them in Americas could be quite pushy but they were never as intimidating or as aggressive as the ones I encountered in Playa Del Ingles. Maybe it was just very bad luck at the time

@@BelindaJon41 Haha yeah we call them looky looky men (because it's always like look what I have for you) . If one ever hassles you again just take out your phone and start filming them. They don't like it and go away, we found that out already LOL. We don't actually live in Playa del Ingles, we are in San Fernando which is about 20 mins walk and a lot more Spanish. It's a street market, of course it's all fake and if anyone believes it's the real thing, then they are missing quite a few little grey cells. I have been to this market many times and a lot of the stalls just sell tat.
