Enter the game for installation. 2) Download and install the next 4 updates -> 4 / 15. Cancel when downloading 5/15. Enter the game for installation. 3) Download and install the next 6 updates -> 6 / 11. Cancel when downloading 7/11. Enter the game for installation. 4) Download and install the last 5 updates -> 5 / 5. Enter the game and enjoy!

Forget those idiots who are never satisfied with anything brother. Thanks for displaying this method for free and taking the time to try it yourself! It took me 2 runs on the stupid updates till I came across your video, so what the hell... I'll give it a shot. For those afraid to loose progress on the game... buy an external memory or hard drive to save your game. So the key is: 1)enable internet 2)get the 1st update 3) cancel the next one 4)disable internet 5)install that 1st update 6)then repeat the process as 1 to 5 step, till you get all updates one by one right?

Just followed this strategy and it worked. Like the other guy said, you can install the first 7 updates with no problem before cutting internet connection and letting the in game update run. After that, I found you can expedite this by downloading 2-3 updates at the same time as long as they don’t exceed about 500 mb together.

I've done this before and I'm preparing to do it again -- you can cut down some time by knowing that 1.07 was the update that broke the in-game updater so you can confidently do the first 7, and then start the process highlighted in this video. I don't know how many there's to do now, but you'd maybe save 1/5-6 hours of the unfortunately tedious process of this by doing those first 7 at once and then going from there. Cheers!!!

Well today july 3th 2020 I could install all updates with no issue, here is the info: 1.- save your game progress in a usb stick to keep your records. 2.- delete game updates. Leave the game as it installs for the first time. 3.- VERY IMPORTANT STEP. DELETE YOUR GAME PROGRESS FROM THE PS3. KEEP YOUR GAME PROGRESS IN YOUR USB DISK. LEAVE NO TRACE OF ANY PROGRESS OF THIS GAME IN THE CONSOLE. 4.- start updating one pkg at a time . 5.- after any pkg is installed start the game. Install the update. Get into the lobby. Gt6 will ask for a name everytime you get into the game once is updated the 22 times. Put any letter in name and last name. 6.- once finished all updates. Confirm in the gt6 lobby that you have the 1.22 version you may exit the game and. 7.- copy your progress that you prevously saved in your usb stick in the ps3 again. 8.- start your freshly gt6 1.22 version. Thats all.

It's one year later and developers haven't fixed the issue at least not that I can tell. so thank you for posting such a helpful video for free

He am I in 2020. This videos helped me but you dont actually need to do the updates one by one. Do it in four steps. 6, 4, 6, 5. Theres only one thing you need to make sure. One of the updates has around 400mb, this one needs to be done in the third step and the following 2 updates have to go with it.

This will take days but it works thank you so much you saved my christmas man!

Thanks bro, I did it and its working! I have downloaded 6 of 21 updates, then disable net connection, started the game, and waited for installation of 6 updates. Then, repeated remain updates, 1 by 1.

At the time of this comment in March 2021, it worked! I followed every step and managed to update the game fully with no problems. Thank you. It's unfortunate that this issue still exists.

7/15/21 I bought GT6 today and updated the game from scratch, took about 3 1/2 hours to update and install though it said 5 minutes remaining for a couple of hours. I didn't use the method in the video or any other, simply waited for all downloads so I hope people out there are no longer dealing with the install issues.

July 2023 and this is still an issue... I've done this twice but it gets stuck on an infinite black screen after 1.22 finally gets installed in-game Any ideas? 😢

Ok 22 updates, here we go

So I just figured I would share my experience real quick. I went through this entire process several times with my PS3 fat. I followed the instructions to the letter and it did not work past the fifth update. 1.06 It would consistently fail past that point no matter how careful I followed the instructions. In the end, I ended up purchasing a solid-state drive and the digital download copy of the game for $15. This was in addition to the physical copy that I had because I have a suspicion that it was due to slow read speeds from the Blu-ray and possibly the way that this game installs files as you play. Once I allowed the digital download to fully install, I downloaded the first six updates 1.06 and then downloaded each sub sequent update one at a time following instructions until version 1.11. Then I updated in groups from 1.12 to version 1.16. Then I went from 1.17 to 1.22. And to my relief I now have a fully operational game thank God. Not sure if it mattered but I was making sure to clear the cache every time. Just a heads up keep an eye on your HDD indicator light if that ever stops flashing then the installation will fail. Also, all updates were displaying an indication of progress which they were not before I added the ssd. Good luck everyone else!

Yes this gets your game working again but it also deletes all you progress and current game data so you have to start from the beginning with no money & not cars

HE IS CRAZY JUST MAKE SURE... #1 Clear game data gt6 #2 Make sure clock is set by Internet Time. #3. Make sure game disc auto play is OFF! #4 set auto turn off to 5hr and 5hr. #5 Make sure you are signed in! If download error pops up hit x then x and it will continue where it left off! THE ABOVE IS CRUCIAL OR IT WONT UPDATE GUYS.

Btw, 1.08 (if that's the update after 1.07) never installs in game. The HDD access indicator always turns off midway through the installation.

This method does not work. the bug will happen whether you baby sit it or not. I've done this multiple times with no success. The farthest I got was v1.20 before I got this error. It rediculos a first party product could be this broken....

Thanks it worked, I haven't played in a while and it asked for the update and it failed after hours loading. Didn't know what to do to not lose my data. So after watching this video I deleted everything on gt6 except my backup file. Did the ree download steps here and WALLA! Working fine 🙂

Hello when i updated the game i had this problem and im very dissapointed because they didnt fix this problem.BUT i am glad to say this method worked for me today is 29.9.2020 you must do this carefully when there was 11 updates left one of them was 10mb so be careful while doing it because somesay you should do every update at once i dont know is this true but i did as what they said about it and somesay you need to eject disc at every update but this is false you dont need to eject disc at every update. And more note from me you can access to thropies and psn but you cant play online i think THEY CLOSED online play. But i suggest you to update the game guys. Because there are so many playable zones includes moon too. And updates include so many new cars. You dont have to do it in a one day you can continue to update the other day. You must be very patience. I believe you can do that! I think theyre not fixing it because they want us to buy new generation but i love the old generation ps3 system is the best generation ever!!

I am successfully running version 1.22 on a CECHL01 80g fat. I had to do them one at a time. This is the 1st bout out of many with GT6’s & PS3’s that I’ve actually won, feels great.

This honestly isn't worth it. Takes way longer than it should. I think someone from Polyphony should physically do this for me, why should I suffer from their mistakes?! Used to love the Gran Turismo series, but now i'm done with this garbage. Not buying another GT anymore, thanks Polyphony! Sad to see my save with over 100+hrs into it get deleted since it's literally un-playable now.

Yesterday I tried to install everything normally. I got the infamous "5 minutes left" infinite screen after I loaded the game, but it eventually installed everything after many hours. They maybe fixed the issue somehow? I don't know. Anyway I lost my beloved Senna replay, which is a shame. The fact that you lose some data if you touch the installation file is just ridiculous IMO.

Today is 9/12/19 and today I’m bought this game and want to play the game but had problem with this huge update which halting my joy to play this game.

my game data utility just shows netflix , i try to start GT6 and it shows the in game install at 800+ minutes then eventually crashes

Tried this with no success. After I’m installing the 1st update and disable the internet. The problem is that I can’t enter the GT6 game without internet, it giving me an alert and not loading the game.

deleting the 2gb update file takes so long and if it doesnt do anything just reset ps3 and delete the corrupted data, WAIT for the size to be calculated first then press yes

Can confirm this issue still persists. Will try this fix…although I’ve no GT6 data in my game utility folder and it is up to date (digital version). An absolute shambles by SONY for such a big IP on PS3. 🤷🏻

I downloaded all 21 updates, and am facing the "installation failed" error when I try to open the game. Is there a way to delete the update without deleting all the save data?

When i am at 1.10 the game starts displaying the “HDD” thing and it lasts forever

i followed these instructions, got a first update that was well over 1200mb and then when i started up the game it gave me an internet disconnected notice, and then it froze on the name select screen yet AGAIN. seriously, am i the only one who has issues with the game crashing the entire ps3 on that name select screen because there's no information on it.

So I'm doing this in 2023, only because it's like the only gran turismo game I own to have both an Australian car, the XR8, and an Australian track, Mount Panorama, and I'm unsure of something here. Is it perfectly fine if my ps3 is doing all the updates as one massive update? Because I'm a little worried about that. Oh and I'm doing this on an Australian PS3 Slim
