I watched this to double check there wasn't something I was missing as I was still struggling with my steering wheel and been struggling to figure out why. Thank you so much, I think it applies with any game. I have been overdriving the car and finding I get oversteer on exit, this weekend I felt much more consistent as I have been more aware of the steering angle and whether I am +/- 45 degrees

Good content thanks for going through it all Here to see if I missed anything I will say that I disagree on learning the track without the corner indicators… while you do learn the track yourself- I find it very helpful to use the corner indicators to let me know where the apex are and, less importantly, where the widest point on exit would be so I kinda know where to aim for throttle… Obviously all subjective and I link your video. I did want people to stay open to that cuz it’s led to me knowing the courses quicker. I don’t use the line assistance because in competition you don’t actually get the line you want, but rather take the best line at the time. I then off corner assistance after I know the track a bit and then I play with the variables. (Braking points, trail speed, etc) Thumbs up on the vid man!

I worked the angle thing recently just bought a wheel. Im a noob and when i would look for reasons as to why i spin out alot... the advice was ALWAYS throttle control ... your right that secondary, the real determining factor is your steering angle on exit... your the first youtuber to mention this.

Wow! Thanks 👍 I’m an A+ driver (just about) 😂 and I didn’t know about the 45 degree rule. I’ll be testing that. On my second fun account. I sometimes have counter steer assist set to weak. It very rarely flashes on, but I sometimes use it because the pit manoeuvre gets used by so many drivers. Especially in lower lobbies. Far more than on GT Sport. I’ve also noticed that using these assists are slower. But the difference is much less than in GT Sport. Even Jim Brea is using the counter steer assist at times. Great video and thanks for the info 👍

Cheers Dellboy, in GT Sport, I used some assists, the one I could never get rid off was driving in automatic. I did decently tho, kept cones on as sometimes those would help me using them as braking marks in some tracks (they removed those in gt7). I used the drivin line for a lot of time until I realized it was not the real best line to follow in a race. In gt7 used the breaking zone and realized as well it wasn't accurate for different types of cars, dunno how it works calculating when you need to break as it moves towards you the faster you go (which is logical) but it doesn't seem to have into consideration your current car and it's behaviours. Never used any of the other assists for longer than a few days into gt7, I quickly realised they were hindering my driving badly. Lastly, a few months ago I decided to bite the bullet and learn how to use manual properly in the game... Huge game changer for me, my times started getting so much faster. I drive today with the exact same assists you have here, and it's definitely the fastest way to go! 200% proved true!

Traction control depends on the car and specific circumstances. Generally 0 or 1 is best (typically I set 1 until I know the car/setup) and gives you optimal balance of speed and stability. Adding tc reduces tyre wear, you might want to do that of managing the tyres. Also low grip situations where you are caught in the wet and/ or tyres are shot. Agree with the other comments, except maybe driving line and braking area. Both helps you if you are unfamiliar with a track and just having a casual race but I also find the braking zone appears too early for best lap times.
@deadeyedelboy

Spot on mate! The top drivers rarely use TC at all, on any car but unless you have a desire to reach the very top then TC 1 can be helpful 👍

Great tips - many thanks. Does the wheel & pedal set make a huge difference to times or flow??? I use a stock Logitech G93 with Trueforce...but the streamers I see all use high-end Fanatec etc... Could they be as fast as they are by using my set-up??? And by the same argument, could I (in a parallel universe!!!) get as fast as them with mine? Are any mods available/necessary?? I've always driven manual (even when I used to use a controller), & never use any assists....but always have to brake earlier than on tutorials...any advice much appreciated, cheers!!!
@deadeyedelboy
@deadeyedelboy Жыл бұрын
Hey Graham, my experience of going from the Logitech G923 to the Fanatec CSL Elite was like going from night to day. The build quality and just the additional confidence knowing you have 'better' equipment is probably worth a good few tenths. The biggest difference for me was going to the V3 load Cell pedals as it improve the consistency of my braking by quite some bit. All of that said, there are faster drivers out there using Logitech G920's and G923's. so driver skill plays the biggest part in everything as you would expect, but if you can afford the more expensive equipment then why not have it... if nothing else it will remove the 'what if' feeling that lingers... P.S. point to note about watching Tutorials - always try and find a tutorial that uses the same POV as you do, because I found that I can't use bumper cam tutorials as they have brake markers that are slightly later than the ones I need to use in hood view :-)

It's not just about speed it's about using the gears to help turn the car and how to put the power down sometimes upshifting out of a slow corner so there is no wheel spin therefore losing power. Down shifting into turns shaves massive amounts of time. It's not even comparable friend. So I know it's hard to understand but you got it just turn it on and LEAVE IT ON. And no using traction control unless you are in street cars. You will be at the top soon enough. And know when to battle and when to let a faster driver by. Sometimes new drivers want to fight everything and only slows them down. Use those blinkers get out of the way (without slowing yourself down of course) and then try your best to follow a faster person's line and work with them.

Downshifting another gear for engine braking/slip for extra rotation in a corner then back up one to drive out the corner for traction, I feel most know about that one. But it's the little ones that add up, and 1 for me was downshifting slower. I used to hit my braking mark then bang down gears right away aggressively and bouncing off the rev limiter. Now I gain time by doing it smoothly. I guess I learnt that from ACC because you can't go too low a gear depending on your speed.

Great video as always. If your hoping to become an A or A+ driver in sport mode all the changes are a must, but if you are a casual gamer they may not be the best settings. I’ve been playing GT since the PS1, I bought the limited edition GT PS4, so I’d put myself towards the top of the casual gamers. I’m normally about 5 seconds away from the top times in time trials and I’ve been trying to work out how to get quicker, do I buy a wheel, do I change the setting? Either way it all comes back to how much time you invest in the game, the more you race, the more you understand the cars and the tracks, the better and quicker you get. On a PS1 when brakes and accelerators were either on or off and there was no slight turns, just left or right, the wheel probably made a bigger difference than it does on the PS5. The settings have always made a big difference to lap times, but if you are only competing with the AI, you can beat almost all of it with an automatic and TC1. It is only when trying to get gold on the licences and track experiences that you need to turn off TC and you only need a manual for the second fuel save licence test. I am still using automatic and I can tell when racing in sport mode it is costing me a few seconds a lap on some tracks, but when you are just learning circuits and spending a lot of time off the track, remembering which gear you should be in can cost you more time than you gain. Its possible to beat all the AI with an automatic, but to be competitive in sport mode you need to use manual. I’m struggling to switch after always using an automatic, so I’m racing the Sunday cup, ect, to learn the game again. Cars are definitely quicker if TC is off, but using an automatic with some cars means they spin out. Having TC on 1 stops the spin that would be stopped by changing gear. Facing forwards is quicker than spinning out. Most of the AI can be beaten, its only the gold medals where it needs to be switched off, but it sport mode it can be costly for those fast lap times. If I have to switch TC on, I can sometimes be competitive, but if my laps times look slow I don’t enter. My 35 top 5 out of 163 races probably has more to do with entering late night lobbies and racing with A and A+ drivers rather than being slow, to improve my stats I probably just need to race at a different time in the B lobbies where I should be. ABS, anti breaking system, when you press the brake hard, it rapidly reapplies them on and off to stop the wheels locking up, why would anyone want to switch it off? Does it have some advantage for drifting? Driving line assistance defiantly should be off, a lot of the time it can be in the wrong place and is of no help if you are attacking or defending a corner. Most tracks have tyre marks near corners that act as much better driving line markers and give you a better range of where you can be on the track. Breaking Area I find can be useful. Racing against the AI, when you are changing tracks and cars it helps not having to learn every braking point for every car and probably makes progress through the game quicker. In sport mode I still use it, but I don’t rely on it. There are corners where it tells you to brake early or late and there are plenty of places brakes are not needed at all and a few places it forgets to tell you to brake. But it does have an advantage in tyre wear races as it shows you that you need longer braking distances and in the rain. One race last week in the rain I broke really early for Mulsanne Bend, where the marker told me, it was only the cars going into the back of me and myself that made it round the corner everyone else ended up in the sand pit. Replace car, mine has been off for a while, it was useful to start with when I was trying to remember the tracks, but I found eventually it was resetting me back just I was about to rejoin much further on the track, useful for some novice and intermediate drivers, but needs to be off If you want to be a top split driver. ASM, does have some uses, mine is generally switched off, but if I am driving the Red Bull it goes on straight away. If I am struggling to tame a FR car, I normally switch it on before I switch TC up to 2, it sometimes works. Changing to manual will probably mean I need to use it less. My counter steering assistance is switched off, mainly because I couldn’t work out what it did. I switched it on for the BAC Mono event against the AI as I couldn’t get the car round the corner, but other times I have switched it on I cannot see how it helps. 45 degrees, a game changing tip, can I find it on a stick? Or is that where the wheel has the advantage?
@deadeyedelboy
@deadeyedelboy Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, really appreciate your comprehensive feedback to the video, and appreciate the time you have taken to put that together 👍 I have no idea why anyone would want the ABS off but for some reason there are a few people out there who no doubt will 🤷‍♂️ The 45 degrees can definitely be achieved on the pad although I have no doubt it is easier on the wheel…. But as you say, when taking everything into account, the biggest factor in getting faster is time spent playing and practicing and there’s no substitute or quick fix for that 👍

It’s interesting the speed diff between manual and auto, if you put same car same tune side by side and launch them -the manual car is light years quicker - to me this isn’t right, the performance of the cars should be the same regardless of the transmission you drive with - the auto box in the game is the dumbest stupidest device you can imagine because the developer slows the cars down - I know it’s mute point but in the sports car world there is no case on planet earth where the manual car is quicker than the auto car but in GT7 they go out of their way to slow it down.

U are fast... But if we could change tow angles the gtr wouldnt even be close to the fastest car... Bop isnt a bad thing... But limit the hp and pp and give is freedom to change the sttings you talk about!!! Bop is gy7s downfall...
