Thanks George. I was surprised just how short they are. Luckily they are still more or less in scale though. My plan is to stick them on top of das clay that will raise the height a mm or 2. I still might mix in more perry’s to show the mixture of ages. I read that 28% of a battalion of militia are 20 or under, and 10% are over 40. So the private school is still a viable idea with some taller older troops as well. I will not be doing them for a while as they are in the 1st Brigade. Have a good week buddy.

Well it was that or the bin mate lol. I am probably going for a dutch private academy. Thought that would be better as there were no military type schools with older teenagers in. The recruiting age of the Dutch militia was 16-40 so it kind of fits as an idea. Maybe 16-17 year olds. As small as they are the muskets are in scale. I will see what they look like when they are done. Seeming they are to be in the first brigade it might be awhile before they are done anyway.

I dont mind mixing companies but they are similar sizes. These guys can only really be used as teens. Like i said i will do them and if i dislike them wont use them. But the idea of a private boarding school regiment sounds cool anyway.

Thanks, its going to be a boarding school type private school I think? That would seem the more useable idea. There were no military schools in the sense of say an American military school for instance in Europe during that period for about 20 or 30 years later. I checked it out.

Yes i think they are great sculpts. They look 16 years old. Thats why I am going for the private school idea.

Yes that is a good idea, i use das clay to build the base flat i could stick a lot of them to the clay rather than the base that would sort out the height. But elements of the like heads and thinness in arms will still he funny unless they are all together. I will be definitely doing that though.

@@granapriego Yep, that is true- it's often not so much the height as the build and shape that is all out of kilter. Which is basically impossible to do anything about, other than try and keep them on different parts of the table- not always easy when you're working to a specific order of battle.

Yes I did think about that route too. But I did not show them against front rank. Its like having Arnie and the small guy from Austin power’s in the same unit.

Yes thats similar to what I was thinking. I fill the gaps in my bases with das clay. I was thinking sticking the eagle figures to the clay rather than the base making them a mm or 2 taller. The fact of of the school idea was to make up for smaller shako’s muskets are ok the same size practically as a perry musket.

These chaps are too short to used as anyone over the age of about 16 really. Thats why I came up with the private school idea. A battalion mostly made up of 16-17 year olds with teachers as officers obviously there would be other aged people in the battalion too but not in the 24 man battalion on the table. I believe the dutch militia recruited from 16 to 40 year olds. But again if they don’t come out meeting my requirements i wont use them.
