Definitely should be some rules to it.... Even in REAL drag racing classes, small tire and true street classes, you can't be back halfed and you HAVE to run a certain size tire. Wouldn't say he outsmarted anyone vs people just wanting to race and not caring. They do it for the fans.

If you understand where this shit started, it mainly came from mfr's who had old school cars already and they just evolved over time and went faster. The requirements ain't just rims n paint. These days mfr's building purpose built race cars specifically for big rim racing. Definitely needs to be some rules and regulations to the shit. Even in REAL small tire/true street type classes they don't allow back halfed cars AND you HAVE to run a specific size tire because of not having the room to fit anything bigger, hence the no back half rule. Joe always in his shit, when G/N can do the same, on the same size tire, with FULL INTERIOR, and all the extra weight of actually having rear frames rails etc etc, then I'll say he the man.... As of right now, he doin what that car is SUPPOSED TO DO against real street driven street cars.

Ol buy in the red Buick has the right idea. If you going to try and make it down the track on a 1in thick tire then, tub it, shorten the rear end and slap the widest wheel and tire under it. But that blue Buick was quick on that test pass. The red Buick wasn't that fast.
