Sonny’s flying changes are AMAZING he can do so many 2’s in a circle he is so impressive and obviously Erin is an amazing rider too

It’s incredible how at the beginning he looks very behind the vertical, but as he loosens up and she rides him forward his whole posture changes. Shows how you can’t judge a rider until after the first phase of the work or unless you know the horse yourself. Really nice, proper riding, absolute pleasure to watch.

When Sonny is doing the ladderal work in trot he looks like he is just floating. He is a girted horse and you are a gifted rider

Erin, I loved this video! As a true dressage rider at heart I have much respect for the amount of strength (both of you) and training it takes for those movements. The rhythm in his back legs in the canter piaffe was beautiful. You had a core muscle workout. Thank you from the US!

It's really lovely to see the positive change between the start and end of the session. The collection, carriage, transitions improve so much, giving me motivation to ride and appreciate my own progress!

Love seeing other people’s training sessions! As a Barrel racer i don’t know a lot of the jargon but still love to see the rider and horse working together! I follow other equestrians and i love watching people work their horses, i guess it kind of makes me feel like i am riding with them too! Also, i know for a lot of Barrel racers, we typically do better during training than at the actual competition! 🤦🏽‍♀️ But loved the video and would love to see more like this!

Enjoying your videos. You are a lovely rider/trainer. My trainer always tells me he is happy when my horse is "sneezing" or what he calls blowing out. He says that is a sign of the horse releasing tension and breathing better to use his body. So you should be happy when he is doing that.

Thank you for the video. Both you and your horse are a talented pair. Dressage is not easy that is for sure. And any one who rides seriously knows that all horses have issues and limitations. And riders too. Sonny is tricky in the contact and it shows in all his work ( except 1 Piaffe was 😍) and his under development in his top line in front of the saddle. It effects all his paces. Kudos to you for riding him in a snaffle. In my opinion the upper level movements are not a issue for him. The contact and connection is what needs to be worked on. Ian Miller the famous jumper would do flat work all week and jump one day only. Try concentrating on the basics, hundreds and hundreds of transitions no tricks. Even if you don’t get out of the warm up. But you get good work in the end. Then build on that. Make sure he is honest in all the paces and seeking the hand forward and down no behind the vertical. Especially watch the slow walk. If he is behind the leg the trot will be also. I think if you concentrate on this for the winter you will be thankful for it as he will be taking you. This is so normal to always have to go back and re work the basics. You got this. 👏👏
