I spoke with some folks about needing more sirens in the neighborhoods and was told they are for the folks outside...inside you have media and the NOAA radio.....well....one Saturday I was resting when I thought I heard a siren....got up and went outside, and it was a tornado siren sounding......the NOAA radio? Silent.....turns out the tornado the sirens were sounding for had silenced the NOAA radio transmitter.....still say we need more if nothing else for a back up.

When I was a student at Aquinas College we would stop class for a couple seconds whenever we heard these but then we'd remember that it was the first Wednesday of the month and everything would continue as planned.

Instead of getting new it should be getting rid of. Sirens are old unreliable technology, they are loud and Obnoxious, people ignore them, and people have smart phones and can get weather radios.
@AndrewWT5020 Жыл бұрын
You sure wouldn’t get away with saying people ignore them to people who live in Moore, Oklahoma who had to go through those 1999 and 2013 tornadoes. They save lives. You clearly have never experienced something like that so you shouldn’t be talking. And also phone alerts and radios are not as reliable, I’ve had personal experience with this where the sirens are the first thing that let me know there’s a tornado. And also for how much you hate sirens you sure seem to watch just about every video of them making your snide comments.
