@@BrandonMenancio I wanted to comment exactly what he said. I loved it! i don't comment often, so there you go. On the watch: the (lack of) WR is a big disapointment for me, I'm afraid it would worry me a lot. That's a shame, for such an awesome watch. Keep up the good work.

You're right - GS's are even better in person! I took a gamble ordering an SBGN003 without seeing it in person...but my god is it amazing in every way! One thing I would say is, because the finishing is SO good, it shows scratches easily.
@BrandonMenancio
@BrandonMenancio 3 жыл бұрын
I didn't get what the hype was about until I visited their boutique in LA. They're stunning in person! Oooo the SBGN003...one of the only quartz watches I'd consider. I'm a little more careful with this one than my tool watches because of what you mentioned about scratching. Anyways, thanks for watching!

Working from home I found myself wearing less expensive easy to read watches but my favorite are GMTs. The GMT function provides an added bonus of tracking two time zones, true, but can work just as a regular 3-handed would. I have friends and vendors I deal with in other countries so I can use my gmt to track their time too, even if I’m not traveling. Also owning a GMT somehow makes me want to plan a trip, go exploring and see the world so while it might be hard to travel it’s still possible. Anyway, while this is a dressy watch it wearable with a t-shirt and jeans, so no reason why you couldn’t keep it in the cycle even if it’s worn once a week, especially given it’s significance. I wish my wife would buy me a GS, but she’s not that attuned to my preferences. The plus side of that for me however is I can buy whatever I want and she doesn’t notice lol! Enjoy your watch, gotta love Grand Seiko!

Cool channel, I just bought the SBGJ217 last week, similar looking. These are great for daily use typing away on a laptop since its a smaller watch and since its on strap it doesnt get in the way. I tried wearing my 2 tone submariner while typing, the clasp rubs against the edge of the keyboard and adds one micro scratch after another which plays on your mind - the harder I work, the more scratches I add to my Rolex making it depreciate in value ! ha! So GS makes for a cool watch to own for sure. The limited editions keeps the value a bit better but if you keep the watch for many years..who really cares. Im a digital nomad and work from home but just bought the watch to impress myself (and the lady in 7 Eleven), its a bit like fine art me thinks.

I'm far from a watch movement expert, but I think that's a fair comparison.

used to own an SBGA373 but sold it to get another GS that ended up being a phony listing. Currently waiting for my birthday to get this SBGM221 and god dang the quality of your video made me even more excited! Though I do think your shots missed a lot of the blue. That's normal though because zaratsu is KNOWN to show up as black often on cameras

Great take on GS, on it strengths, and also on the cons such as the movement finishing here- Just, please, balance the volume of the music talking better. If I have to decrease volume by 50% for a music bit, it detracts from the otherwise well made video.

Don't sweat the 221's movement aesthetic. Over time, with their beautiful new movements will continue to popularize their brand, and these early pre-hi-beat movements will become exceedingly desirable for their glimpse into the earlier days of the brand's modern rebirth.

It doesn't bother me a ton, but I'm sad I missed out on those really cool new movements. No biggy though because I much prefer a nice dial to a superbly finished movement.

Thank you for the great content! I love drilled lugs too. What are the minor issues tho?
@BrandonMenancio
@BrandonMenancio 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! They're so convenient right!? Super minor issues were the 19mm lug width, the movement finishing, and low water resistance. VERY MINOR! I had to have some cons in the review lol. I'd score the watch a 9.5 out of 10👌

@@BrandonMenancio agreed, 19mm lugs is a bummer. 20 and 22 is where I'm at.

Lionel Richie.. is that you..? Hello... haha Nice vid mate! GS is always a bit of a difficult watch to me, they are technical superior and the details are astonishing, but they always look a kind of boring to me.. ps. i dont agree on the lug holes, instead all the straps should have a quick release ;)
