Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online are now available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and expanded and enhanced to next-gen consoles. With the updates to these new platforms, players are wondering how to transfer their old character profiles from Playstation 4 and Xbox One so that they don't lose all their GTA$, Shark Cash, weapons, luxury cars, RP, and level. Here is the process of how to transfer your GTA Online character profile from last-gen to next-gen as well as the errors that might occur and how to access them.

It’s annoying that there’s no cross gen between ps4&5 I found out today you can’t play together. Rockstar needs to find a way to let us play together still

@@ioasisyumich They already announced they are working on gta 6. They won’t prioritize gta 5 on ps5 over ps4 like they did last generation. At most there will be like 1 more big dlc coming then gta 6.

Im with you on this one. I'm staying on the PS4 version for online, story I'll play again on PS5. Oversight on part of Rockstar if you ask me, especially when the transition from PS4 to PS5 is not as easy due to supply issues.

Don’t do this unless all your friends are doing it too because it’s permanent and barely anyone cares enough to upgrade anyway, which wouldn’t be so bad if there was cross play, but there isn’t

Idk ab now, but back when the ps4 and one came out, you were only able to transfer your account temporarily bc ppl were transferring modded accounts. Then eventually they stopped updating xbox 360 and those accounts are severely basic. Id say you probably want to transfer while you can, before it just fades out specially the people who spent money on shark cards and stuff.

Don't do it because you'll lose your character on last gen and you will not be able to play with your friends who don't have the new consoles. Better yet don't buy it because rockstar is ripping people off by selling the same game for the 3 time in 9 years.

To be fair, Rockstar re-releasing GTA V for the PS4 made sense because they originally released it in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 - about a year before the PS4 and Xbox One were released. So it made sense for Rockstar to re-release it for the newer generation consoles since a lot of players were already upgrading to the newer generations.

It seems that a lot of people are unaware, so dont expect to see it on pc because this feature got disabled since 2017. You can still try to ask rockstar support and open a ticket. Edit: support will not help sadly.

yes you can do it, they give you a brand new character start fresh level 1 & they give you 4 million dollars, you have to choose if you want a executive business, what vehicle etc there & then though so you’re left with 500k on average

yea, let them trasfer their hacked accounts once again, because thats what every new player wants when they start Gta Online up again.. a massive ammount of hackers, that once again will completly ruin the experience for them.. the absolutly appaling way that GTA is working right now, making it as easy as it is, to gain hacked accounts, completly destroys the game, not gonna play it, allowing people to move accounts yet again, is a huge mistake..

They would loose easily most of their playerbase if they don't allow transfers. Literally nobody who has thousands of hours on this game want to be wiped and start from square one.
