After much anticipation, V1 of the new GrandMA3 software has arrived to the general public and that means it's time to figure out how to use it! This video will be significantly different than any of my normal tutorial/vlog type videos because this is an entirely new software and I thought it would be fun to see just how difficult picking up a new lighting software can be.

Does the MA3 software works only with a specific OpenGL version? Unfortunately I cant open it on older MacBook Pro.

Hey thx so much for the video ! Cool ! I got the sam bug about "cant" delet item". Did you solved it ? It happend when the "At" on the left bar of the screen stay yellow. I cant find a way to change it.. As if i restart the soft.. Same happen in your video at 2:02:10.. Last thing, can I connect a midi controller usb on the on PC ? Thx a lot !

A couple questions, is that the permanent preview quality for the 3D portion? I'm surprised it's downgraded compared to MA2. Second question is, can the lights move above 60 BPM? I remember that, and above was the breaking point for moving speed in MA2, even though I've seen some lights move quicker than 60 BPM IRL.

1. You can set the beam quality even higher. Options are "None", "Line" (similar to MA2 Stage View), "Simple", "Gobo", "Gobo Shadow" and "High Shadow". 2. You can already change that behaviour in MA2 by changing the "Minimum 3D Time" for Pan and Tilt in the Fixture Type itself. Setting it to "0" for example will result in laser like movement speeds.

@@XtremeTechYT Oh my gosh I never knew about the Minimum 3D Time, thank you so much!! Is there an Infini-Pan setting as well, or is that not possible? Also I can't seem to find specifically where the Minimum 3D Time is.

It’s a good career! Even as a lighting tech you can make a great living. I do this and I have a small equipment rental business as well.

Hey At the Moment I‘m Running on the free dot 2 onPc System. Now I outgrown the system (features and channels). Now I’m looking into buying a grandma onPc. My problem is now should I wait until 3 is in a state where it’s good to use. Or just by the „old“ system. That I actually already know. Any thoughts on this topic?

Does the OnPC Software Output DMX (via ArtNet maybe?) without any MA Hardware connected?

No, you need to unlock parameters by connecting hardware

Hey man, i saw that you can use MAtricks X and Xblock to divide the fixtures and then use the mirror tool to get ur symmetrical stuff

did your macro using groups fail because the macro referenced beams and the group was called Beams. Might be case sensitive. Also build a NAS and have an editor ftp to it.

The scroll bar thing messed me up too. It's really annoying that it does scale the resolution of the window. I had the MA3 XT Light console for a show and I kept having to use the mouse instead of the touch screen to scroll. Having mostly used the dot2 I would also agree that the 3D tools need work. It seems like it's really built with the hope that GDTF and MVR take off so you can import your show from Vectorworks and be ready to program, but it's def not there yet. It's nice that you can boot into MA2 or 3 when you boot the console, in case you have issues.
