Much Respect To Grandmaster Flash!

I agree. I mean, Grandmaster Flash isn't much more than an icon now. What he played right there is pretty much exactly what he did on Grandmaster Flash and His Adventures on the Wheels of Steel, and that was decades ago.

actually this was from a mini dj battle on MTV back in 97. Grandmaster Flash, Jam Master Jay, DJ Skribble and Slinky were the judges. Positivly Red took 1st place and DJ Infamous took 2nd. Oh and Flash has always had his tables like that, easy access to the pitch control. For him his needle drops are more precise with them that way.

@vuksa1234321 Yes, but music in the 80's was already made on computer instruments, such as digital synthesizers, sequencers and drum computers.

Lotsa people say this isn't good, but you have to give him credit because he started what everyone now knows as turntablism, and I'll bet it probably wasn't even on purpose ("Whoa I slipped- *scratch* That sounded hot.) People took what he created and just kept adding onto it, and there are lots of scenarios where the creator of the thing isn't as good as the people who took it up after him/her.

I think I understand u.I'm saying that once rap went to records, something was lost. And I related the effects of commercializing rap, with that of double-dutch, which from what I can see, is relegated to a narrowed population - the "in" crowd. You had to be there. D.J. mixing records and the MC spitting rhymes.Because of the time, w/no one ever seeing how big this would become, most of this was never recorded. But to me, those were hip--hops best days, a sort of innocence pre-commercialism.
