It looks better in my reccomended to see the different colors now and then but lookin on his channel makes it look very generic. He could keep the same style but just give it a new look if you get what im saying

@@SortaFresh No need for a fresh thumbnail yet. It makes more sense to keep the videos consistent and visually identifiable as part of the same series. Perhaps a different thumbnail could be made for a second speedrun that Danya may revisit the future.

Why would anyone feel the need to dislike this? Fantastic (free) content which has really helped me develop a much clearer thought process for my games, helping me finally breakthrough a year long barrier at 1600 rapid. Have watched and learned from the very first episode.

I not only beat but checkmated a 2100 when I was around 1400. Then he wanted a rematch and I noticed he had lots of people watching him in the chat and that freaked me out and I didn't win the rematch

Love the content Daniel! Super instructive and helpful to me. Easy to follow the ideas as you explain them, even when I would have never found them myself initially! One minor gripe, for some reason the default volume on the channel seems to be very low relative to the rest of KZfaq, I always find myself diving for the mute during the ad breaks because I have to turn up the volume so high. Not sure if that is something that can be fixed on your end

Hey Daniel. Appreciate the videos. I am a 1200 rated rapid player, today for the first time I entered a live rapid tournament with 4 rounds. I got a bye in one of the rounds so only played 3 matches. Lost the first 2 matches but I was ecstatic to have pulled off a dominant victory in my final match against a 1600 rated player. I always get paired with people close to my own rating so it's rare for me to play against such a strongly rated player I employed a sequence of moves I learned from one of your streams, knowing that with both sides castled kingside it is not bad to (as black) play h6, g5 to remove a bishop from g5 because my opponent will not be able to do the same thing with his/her h and g pawns when I attack with my bishop on the same side. I would never have played g5 without having seen you do it in the speedrun but this was ultimately the move which won me the game since my opponent blundered shortly after, I think it really caught him/her off guard to see me play g5 and he/she did not know how to respond

nope most humans have this same capability. i have similar experiences with games that ive been playing for years and have 1000+ hours in. i recall games/songs/patterns that i experienced years and years ago. some that were very memorable and others that im shocked i even remember. similar to daniel who probably has close to 5000-7000 hours of chess experience after playing for however many years he has (including all the study and practice to reach his rank) you have to understand that he most likely recalls these games just like any other grandmaster because he has associated something with it. whether it be a specific opening, or a specific moment/event (like the first time he beat a grandmaster), associating something with a memory allows you to recall it much easier even after years and years have passed

Hey Daniel love these videos and your instruction style! I’ve watched a lot. Anyway your audio for the KZfaq can be increased?? My phone is on full volume and I still have some difficulty hearing. I will say I watch while at the gym so there is a fair bit of background noise

These lectures can benefit under 1200 as much as it benefits 1600s. I'm 1600 but the principles are simple enough. I think 1200 get lost in the weeds with calculations finding candidates moves and planning. Which can be improved. Thanx for the lectures Danya

At 23:52, what would you play if instead of Nf1, he had played g4? Where would the knight on h5 go? If you go to f6, you lose the pawn on e5. e4 for black is the answer.

A chess rule called en passant, it's where if a player moves a pawn 2 squares and the pawn ends up next to the opponent's pawn, the opponent's pawn can take the pawn that moves 2 squares. Not exactly a great explanation, but I hope you got the idea

I was wondering when it's possible to play e6 + g6 and if there was any rule to follow? I can see the position at 10:28 is awful, but Daniel himself uses the structure in the 1770 video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l9WHd6-ZyNW1pHk.html at 20:07. I can see how the pawns on d6 + c5 protect the dark squares and attack the centre, is there anything else to note?

Engine says it is the best move. I'm guessing he thought it was weakening, but the engine has already determined that those weaknesses aren't threatening. You can see in his tournament game that he played, he actually plays e4. So, obviously, with some more time and prep, Danya would have found e4 as well.

Ignore the engine when it gets in the way of your plans. Not playing e4 won the game, because it kept the lines open toward the king, eventually allowing him to take the knight on f3.

Black can do a6, kicking the bishop off that square, and if takes, then pawn takes and that trade isn't that good, if bishop retreats to a4 or c4, then b5, if bishop retreats back to d3, then you're just giving the opponent tempo

You can just move the queen and you'll be perfectly fine, maybe even h3 next move and get the bishop out of there, there are a few ways to counter that move.

He addresses this later in the video about moving the F pawn. Yes, it creates a weakness. But, it also is useful for the attack. Since his attack is quicker than his opponent's, it ends up being ok. (Although if his attack failed, the weakness from moving the f pawn would help his opponent a lot).

F6 is usually not played in most openings because it weakens the direct diagonal that you're king is in

To add, the pawn on e5 is already defended well, so there's no need to add another defender. Also, it weakens the g6 square, the e6 square, and it puts more blockade on the g7 bishop, which I don't think is ideal.

After Bg5, Bxg5, if queen moves away, Bh6 and it's mate next move with Qh7, if queen sacrifice, you're not getting mated right then and there, but you're down a full queen, and there's little to no chance of coming back from that.
