This man is one of the most fascinating persons, I had the honour to meet in my (meanwihle long) life. Wisdom, knowledge, humbleness, skill, intergrity, discipline and dedication are the characteristics of this great person.

From the music to the interactions between you both, this was a minor masterpiece in terms of tone and creative direction that gives honor to our art in rare form. Many thanks for your efforts and we await the English translation with much anticipation.

As Ishizuka Sensei said in the video, the book he's writing is a way of transmission of proper budo. It will also probably be pretty hard to understand for people not familiar with the martial arts as it is often.

Mr Ishizuka treated him like a son. Not a foreigner . He wouldn't keep any secrets from him.

"Modern Togakure-ryu and various historical claims are taught by Masaaki Hatsumi (Takamatsu's successor) and the Bujinkan organization. Criticism regarding the historical accuracy of the Bujinkan's claims of lineage have arisen from several issues of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten: The 1978 version of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten states that Takamatsu's Togakure-ryu "genealogy includes embellishments by referring to data and kuden about persons whose existence is based on written materials and traditions in order to appear older than it actually is."[38] The 1969 version of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten states that Takamatsu's Togakure-ryu "is a genealogy newly put together by Takamatsu Toshitsugu, who made use of (took advantage of) the popularity of written materials on ninjutsu after the Taishō era" and that "there are many points where it has added embellishments, it has made people whose real existence is based on written records older than is actually the case, and so it is a product of very considerable labor".[39] The 1963 version of the Bugei Ryūha Daijiten states of Takamatsu's Togakure-ryu "this genealogy refers to various written records and oral transmissions and there are many points/places where embellishments have been added and people appearing in the genealogy are also made older than they actually are".

Embellishment is pretty common in japanese history and martial arts. To believe some masters had some martial illumination and spontaneously created a whole complex system is not different than believing fairytales. Not to mention you can put in doubt pretty much any "last ninja" story, as Fujita Seiko's Wadaha ryu can be doubted as an actual ninjutsu school or more contemporary Kawakami Jinichi who literally claims to have learned his art from a literal Sengoku era style ninja in the middle of the 20th century. Anyway, we're talking here about a book about Gyokko ryu kosshijutsu, not Togakure ryu.

@@Hachizukatenzo I'm aware of this. An embellishment is still bad because if you're history was real and started when you say it did there would be no need to embellish it. Just don't say your lineage is that long to attract students to your dojo because that is a dishonest buisness practice.

@@JusUltimate Honestly, I don't think it actually attracts practitioners if you have this famous name in your lineage or this nice tale to explain the Genesis of the school. Most people don't care. But if you know Japanese history, you know rulers like Toyotomi or Tokugawa suddenly claimed descending from ruling clans from the Kamakura era (if I don't confuse it) to support their right to rule. To me, it's closer from a cultural habit than anything.

@@Hachizukatenzo To be fair, I don't feel inclined to debate with practitioners anymore. I've spoken with many practitioners over the years and they don't neccesarily care about the history being fabricated and I concurred that if they find the techniques and tactics valuable then they should train in them. The tendancy with members of these organizations is they boast and brag about their history until it's time to actually prove it then it's "not important". Don't claim the history of something if you cannot back up and prove your claims. I prefer historically validated sources. You don't have to worry about things that have been proven to be historical fact as opposed to relying on guesswork and these suspect organizations and their dubious historical lineage claims.

To be honest we don't really know the real lineages of almost any styles. Be it Japanese or Chinese. History was altered so many times and rewriten by "winners". And so on. Even if you have written text you can not be sure it is telling the true. Nowdays if someone wants to learn ninjutsu it means learning martial art and not espionage, sabotage techniques etc... I find these debates pointless.
