It's definitely something that can work in today's environment. Maybe wear the necklace and either do it after a trick or whenever, but have a strong reason. Like a "oh! I'm wearing these to honor my mother who's__ years old. These are actually her's.. you know what.. I always got in trouble for being a mischievous kid.. let's do something with this.. I'll dedicate this to her. But it's gotta be different and something thar would upset her if she knew I did this!" Do the trick and finish saying "nothing happened mom! Check you prescription! See! Love you mom!"
