Man!!! Thanks to your grandfather!!! This is priceless footage. Best stuff at Plant City I've ever seen from that era.

I grew up in the 1960's and the railroad that ran through my home town was the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. I didn't know of anyone who had a camera back then, probably because most couldn't afford one. Any video footage of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and Seaboard Air Line Railroad are rare to begin with especially ACL in the purple and silver scheme and SAL in the citrus scheme. Thanks to you and your Grandfather for sharing these precious memories.

Though the closest I ever got to the Atlantic Coast Line was a neighbor's garage layout with a Revell SW7 I always loved that purple and silver paint job

If it’s Revell, it’s swell!

Great film. Great color. what was once a large area served by the 2 railroads is now a paltry pair of Amtrak trains

It's crazy to see how different Plant City was back then. At 4:16 its also jaw dropping to see those buildings on the left in the video, they have really stood the test of time. Today they have a couple of great places in em called the Krazy Kup and Whistle Stop Cafe.

Great scenes and railroad stock, plus a nicely selected sound track. Old steam engine at 3:00 is very special. Thanks!

Do you know what areas he visited in the footage? I know the last bit is Plant City but the rest I don't know.

All I know is near Largo, Clearwater, Abay Pines (?), Lakeland. I have cryptic notes but unfortunately don't know which was what.

2:11 is the Long Bayou trestle that crossed Boca Ciega Bay on the SAL line in south Pinellas County. And after at 2:27, Bay Pines was a station where the SAL line stopped at what is now the huge VA hospital in the Tyrone/Boca Ciega area just west of where the trestle crossed the bay.

Can you name the background music song title names?
@killerbee63103 жыл бұрын
I do not have a list of the music titles but it is mostly music by Dan Lebowitz and from the KZfaq audio library. I hope that helps.
