Ich mag diese Art von Handwerkern die ihre wunderbare Kulturelle und traditionelle Arbeit leben . Mit dieser Arbeit kann man in vielerlei Hinsicht wachsen , weil wirklich sinnvolles entsteht . Heute läuft man leider lieber Sinn und zwecklosen idealen nach und am Ende steht man doch vor dem Nichts . Would love to see Grandpa rescue/restore damaged furniture that because so many don’t know Chinese wood-working traditions, they wouldn’t know how to fix nowadays. That’d be such a cool approach to explore Grandpa’s area of expertise, considering one of the advantages of *not* using nails is replacing only broken sections would actually be feasible. 🙂

To be fair, that level of woodworking isn't obvious to anyone who didn't do the full apprenticeship. Some Amish in America still have some skills beyond most others here with mortice and tenet etc. But they usually just make garbage for tourists.

I can't believe I just now thought of this after all of your videos I've watched. Your arms have to be so strong from the years and years of hand tooling. The way you just rip through any length of board seemingly without breaking a sweat. It's really awesome.

The many cuts on these pieces of wood are very complicated! It is amazing that Grandpa remembers how to make them and how to put the pieces together. Grandpa is one of a kind! 👍👍

Hi Grandpa Amu, wonderful Video you are always a joy to watch, My wife Hongmei is in Chengdu right now her Mama has Parkinson's disease and it is important for me that she spends time with her Mama, Mama is a sweet lady who has always been kind to me. Family has always come first with me, from watching you make things with your skilled hands or see you teaching your grand son is so special, I will always consider you family.

HUGE SMILE on my face watching the parts come together one by one..... Then by the time he tapped in the last piece of the structure.....I couldn't help myself, I laughed hard enough for the neighbors to hear me!!!! That thing will literally last 500 years if kept in a decent environment!!!!! WOW!!!!! This is the kind of stuff you'll see on antique roadshow and them talking about how it was made in the early 16th century, and it STILL looks as strong as the day it was assembled! HAHAHA!!!! MY GOODNESS!!!!WOW!!!
