LYRICS
You ain’t gotta hurt no more
Didn’t you hear? The war’s over
Just don’t look behind that door
You don’t wanna get that much closer
Everything is fine up here
It’s alright up here
You can even fly up here
You ain’t gotta hurt no more
Didn’t you hear? The war’s over
Conversation with my echo
Take a hit and then I let go
Everything will be okay
Welcome to paradise
Where me and you
Can always hide
Welcome to paradise
Here in my room
The sun always shines
In paradise
You ain’t gotta feel no pain
It’s all in your imagination
You can always come my way
Together we’ll find the salvation
When you feel the click go bang
And the tip of the wick gets flame
We can all be saved
You ain’t gotta feel no pain
Don’t you resist the temptation
Conversation with my echo
Take a hit and then I let go
Everything will be okay
Welcome to paradise
Where me and you
Can always hide
Welcome to paradise
Here in my room
The sun always shines
In paradise
Welcome to paradise
Welcome to paradise
Welcome to paradise
Welcome to paradise
Welcome to paradise
Welcome to paradise
Welcome to paradise
Welcome to
Welcome to
Welcome to paradise
Where me and you
Can always hide
Welcome to paradise
Here in my room
The sun always shines
In paradise

Grandson said this song is basically about the world can be paradise if you ignore whats going on in the world the "line don't look behind the doors" is basically saying those bad events going on behind the door don't look there and ignore them and its paradise

I feel like this song really hits home for people struggling with recovery from trauma, even though it probably wasn't written with that perspective in mind. It's mainly the use of "you don't have to hurt anymore" with "you can stay happy if you keep ignoring this very blatant thing". It's like denial was blended with acceptance and basically what I'm saying is I can't stop listening to this song. Thank you Grandson.

this feels like it's from the pov of some sort of disillusioned rich person, who's been able to distance themself from all the bad things happening and has gone into denial about the state of the world around them. it's really fascinating, the subtle characterization of the singer in grandson's songs.
@gerardozetina2506
@gerardozetina2506 3 жыл бұрын
I would like to both agree and disagree, I personally believe it is a POV of one of the soldier from the song world war 3, in which the person suffers from PTSD from the war and is trying to distance himself from the world because he feels guilty about killing people who were around his age fighting for their country. But still a good song

@blackhole1376
@blackhole1376 3 жыл бұрын
@@gerardozetina2506 i think it's a mix of both. He's either talking to himself, or it's the character mentioned by caramads, inviting him back to his world. "you ain't got to hurt no more, don't you know the war is over". That's def for the soldier. So it's either some kind of rich person representing society and the world or it's the soldier talking to himself, which is also backed up by "conversations with my echo". Judging by grandon's style and usual themes it's either just talking about the damage war does (talking to himself option) or about the way society treats this damage and it's victims (rich person option). Or to some extent a mix of both. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask him at the "we did it" comments, he's doing q&a there.

I've just understanded this album. It's full story of depressed Optimist, who's in time going to Die. First song is in sad mode, but this, the last one is finally his Death, Where he's happy, because he don't have to be in pain anymore.
@aidenmccarthy8209
@aidenmccarthy8209 3 жыл бұрын
I know everyone has their own ideas for what the songs meaning is, but for me it sounds like “the quiet kid” or a person going through a deep phase of mental trauma or instability, meeting someone they love, but then explaining that this person would be their saving grace, and they want to invite this person to their own personal “paradise.” It’s not a love song, but more of a pain song.

This song strongly associated in my mind with suicide and seems unbelievably grim. The vocal line is like Death convincing a person to do that : "You ain't gotta hurt no more", "...where me and you can always hide". The music and words are filled with atmosphere of hopelessness and the ending of something. By the way, it's my favorite one from that album.

I'm a cult survivor, and this song turns religion on its head for me. I ended up with a bunch of alternate personalities from severe child abuse and the alters that I thought were trying to hurt me were really just trying to give me this type of protective message. I imagine the chorus hits as the gates swing open and im standing there like 😧 Its very nice in my headspace and beautiful, but there is that underlying sorrow behind it. In my opinion this song sounds like a dead soldier from a war that's in a sort of purgatory (even though its not cause grandson doesn't really make songs like that) because of the lines "the war is over" "you don't got to feel no pain" "you can even fly up here" and a lot more lines specifically "just don't look behind that door" that door being a sort of exit to that purgatory and just the slightly uplifting and ethereal feel to the song

in my POV, I think that this song is about somebody in the afterlife after dying in "the war." the part where he mentions that "you can even fly here" kind of gives it away. I might be wrong, but this is what I think it means. Edit: I listened to it a few more times and now I think that it is G talking to Jordan.
@jacekarino
@jacekarino 3 жыл бұрын
Youre a bit wrong. Don't take it so literally. Listen to the entire album from the intro to the outro in order, Focus especially on the ballad of g and x. The story is pretty clear and its already been spoiled by the official videos of identity, riptide, dirty. G and X are two halves of Jordan. The whole album is about how X "killed" G and took over Jordan. G is the happy, optimistic part of Jordan. X is his bad thoughts, his worries, his weaks. Everyone has a G and a X inside. Don't let X take over G.

yea but things such as “you can even fly up here”, “don’t you resist the temptation”, and “just don’t look behind that door” give the lyrics an inauthentic theme, as if he’s trying to convey the fact that societies don’t have as much insight as they should, and instead are being kept “happy”. edit: there are also obvious hints of suggesting a “split personality” esc theme

the songs meaning is actually a bit different, the lyrics say welcome to paradise within our own room, he says it in a way that means that everything outside feels like hell and is going up to shit, "You ain’t gotta hurt no more . Didn’t you hear? The war’s over" he doesnt want you to go on the hell outside once you get inside the "paradise" edit: there are some other parts that hint at the same thing but i didnt want to make this too long

This song is the human being trying to find Paradise. In a world that were none exists. The only hell that exists is the one we are in now. And the quote on quote moving on, is escaping the misery. Even if there's nothing that comes after death. Escaping society's hell, and ending up and avoid of endless nothingness. That is pure and simple Paradise. You don't need a big complex anything. A simple escape from society's hell, is it's own reward.
