@ademoss80 When a person first gets to county jail they are "pressed" into explaining their charge and why they're there. It's common to have to explain, it's just up to the questioned inmate whether or not they tell the truth about the crime they committed.

@whisperingleaves4157

To people like this, children are possessions, like cars or money. They are fiercely protective of their possessions whether money or children, so I think you’re right about not wanting to pay child support. They’d probably figured out that in the long run the $25 000 was a much better deal for them than the long term payments.

@glamdolly30
@glamdolly30 Жыл бұрын
BINGO! No question this murder had money as a primary motivation. Grant and his new squeeze saw child support payments as a drain on their finances stretching out forever - though in reality kids aren't kids forever, and the payments stop after 16-18 years. But these are responsibilities people should think long and hard about before they decide to bring children into the world! Having a child with someone, along with the parents/child connection, is the biggest commitment one human can make to another. Marriage is nothing next to the lifelong link you create when you unite to create another human. Women should choose the father of their children very carefully. Some men, like Grant, don't deserve to reproduce, his bloodline should have ended with him.

I remember watching the trial of Scott Peterson, and Laci's mom on the stand, crying, and said "There's always divorce!!!" What's crazy is these ppl actually think its a better idea to murder their exes, rather than go through a divorce! They don't want to share the kids; they want sole custody without the ex in their children's lives. They don't want to sell the family home, property, and split up assets... they'd rather have their ex dead. They say screw paying alimony, child support, etc. They make up their minds that the ex has gotta go, no matter what, and then follow through. And to them, they fully believe nobody will suspect foul play? I'm incapable of understanding what goes through these ppls heads..🤔

Family court is messed up. The judge gives primary custody of the two boys to a serial cheater simply because he called her a "substance abuser"? Where was his proof? Was he required to even provide it? Usually, women get all the breaks in family court, no matter how badly they behave and the men are the ones who have to grovel. Why did the opposite happen here? That a man could kill the mother of his children is both heartbreaking and terrifying.

The entire way the 2 monsters treated her before the court trial is what happened to me. My youngest daughter was taken by them when she was ten. She just turned 19 this summer. I used to jump at the chance to see her when I was invited to by her dad and his new wife. It only happened one or two times, but I didn’t even consider how important it was for them to have me out of the picture. I’m sure that’s why she went to see her kids that fateful night. She didn’t think they would actually hurt or kill her. Especially with the kids there. My ex husband eventually threatened to have me arrested if I tried to see her. He promised to ruin me if I, or my older 4 children tried to see her. It’s mentally changed me.

I can’t help but see that custody and “winning” against a former partner turns ppl into monsters. Obviously these ppl don’t care that these poor kids are going to have to deal with the knowledge that one parent killed another due to this and ironically end up prison and don’t have custody in the end. For ppl that care so much for their children, they sure don’t care or think of their futures when they do this crap. Just horrible and Laura didn’t deserve any of this ❤😢

This is one where I gotta say WHY? Just share custody. And the new wife had no rights. But to take this woman's life and leave two kids without their mom. Just stupid and sad. Now the kids have no parents. One dead, one in prison for killing her. Imagine growing up with that weight on you. Poor kids.

I had forgotten about this case! I'm a Raleigh native and I remember hearing about this on the news. It's just appalling--and the fact that there's even more weirdness during the trial, like how several detention officers at the Wake County Jail were fired after "inappropriate relationships with inmates, including Amanda Hayes. I guess we're just crazy down here.

We sometimes give it to the criminals in Florida, but Texas doesn’t play! She totally got what ahe deserved & thank the Lord for those Texas peeps!

This is so crazy. When I used to tour, I actually met this guy. It was a Sunday afternoon and he was playing at some beach club on Cape Hatteras outside on the patio. He wasn't very good, but I don't judge people like that musically. We did talk for about an hour and a half, and he seriously seem like the nicest guy ever. I'm not just realizing this now, I remember when this all went down. It's just so crazy to me, that none of us, ever know you're really talking to.

There is a similar case in Sodus, New York around 2018-2020. Involving a former police officer from Texas killing his wife's ex husband and the fiance in broad daylight and infront of the exes child. I don't remember the exact year. The ex wife had the gall to come up from Texas to attend the vigil and express condolences and collect her son (who watched the murder from mere feet) prior to the investigation taking off. It was solved very quickly. It also involved a former deputy and friend of the executioner. Very sad as it occurred around Thanksgiving. That Chapter did a story about it.
