Such a great lesson. Don’t force things if the person has a good foundation, lots of positive reinforcement, and only two or three swing thoughts.

Yeah Grant is special. I like the way he reacted to your swing and didn’t want to change it a lot. To me that is the sign of a good instructor. I had a lesson where a gentleman tried to change my swing and I struggled with it. I think it was the amount of thoughts going through my head during my swing 😂

I’ve never had a lesson just started back playing this season after 17 years off and after a few months I’ve got back to shouting regularly in the low 80s hopefully I’ll break 80 by the end of this season a few times . I learned how to swing by watching pro golfers and nowadays watching great players like yourself and try to feel the positions they get in my swing as I practise and a long slow back swing . It’s a great time for the game never been better I think 😁 So love being back playing missed it so much 😁

#1 Wear Spikes #2 Swing from the ground up; HOWEVER, wait for your shift to occur retaining the maximum lag in the clubhead and hands @7:24 your left foot is already coming off the ground. At address push your right knee slightly toward your left and feel on the backswing your inner right foot is a corkscrew digging into the ground (you can’t do this very easily without spikes. If you rotate your shoulders with a club and where your backswing ends and then allow your left arm to hang freely down, this is the point you SHOULD NEVER allow yourself to move beyond. Your body’s center of gravity stays within the armpits at address. You rotate back and your gravity is over your left armpit IF YOU Haven’t SWAYED ((you weight should NEVER get the center of your right foot or to the lateral/outside portion) and then shifts slowly before rotating 30 degrees open at impact to the right armpit. Allow you head to move or you’ll h be a reverse C in your swing and back problems, pain, and possible surgeries to follow. Swing Thought: You should feel the inside right foot twisting into the ground like a corkscrew so: Corkscrew! Swing Thought: Swing within your two armpits! -your gravity shifts very little to the right and twice as much to the left. #3 Your transition is way too fast not allowing a build up of lag. Power comes from retaining the wrist angle AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. Think Ratio! The ratio you hands travel those last few seconds compared to the clubhead. Swing Thought : Retain the Angle! #4 Buy a metronome. One one thousand, two one thousand. You complete the entire back swing on one one thousand and the entire shift, rotation, and follow through on two one thousand. Swing Thought: One one thousand… two one thousand! #4 More of a one piece take away. You want a long swing arc. However, thinking this too much can lead to a flat backswing too Hogan-like. Yes, he made it work after hooking the ball for years and doing some serious compensations in becoming one of the best iron players EVER. However, Tom Watson had the best advice for the book on the backswing wi thought your wrist doing ANYTHING BUT COCKING UP THE SIDE OF YOUR LEFT FOREARM -if you have a watch in this is the area between the clasp and the face. Imagine holding a book at address with two hands and slowly rotating that book without a hinge that does anything but cock up allomg this line. Sure Colin M has the craziest break ever in his wrist but these are all exceptions to the rule. the Wrist hinge should be simple just like the backswing. If you are at address you can cock your wrist in this manner and lift your arms in a manner almost straight up but to your right armpit. If you rotate your shoulder at address in this manner, you’ll discover your rifht where you need to be at the top. shaft over right shoulder. wrist not cupped or sagging (straight along inside forearm the part between the clasp and the face of your watch). ********/Note: What is Sooooooooooooooo important about this lesson of cocking the wrists, lifting your arms up without breaking the left arm toward your right armpit/shoulder and then turning is realizing just how short the travel of the arms and wrist cock is actually during the backswing!!!! The rotation of the shoulders and arms are a separate action, but a one piece takeaway should occur for the first foot to foot and half depending on height. Drill: place a foam ball on a tee that that you knock over on the backswing. Adjust for length of club. Swing Thought: The backswing should feel like a “fluid rotation of the arms cocking the wrist naturally” without you feeling the need to actually cock the wrists. Note: as you attempt to get a WIDE ARC do not allow yourself to swing outside of the inner right corkscrew effect that is the single most important part of the backswing. You are winding up into the ground! #5 start the downswing from the right foot SLOWLY pushing off from the right side. YOU can’t do this as well without spikes and golf shoes. Yes, you can do it, but not as well. Once you begin your transition from the ground up shift your legs and hips toward the center of address. Once you reach the center of address rotate your hips until they are open 30 degrees at impact. Continue pushing left and raising through the ball. MAINTAIN THE ANGLE until you body forces your wrists and arms to go where they are sending them. Swing thought: Start from the ground up and be patient! #6 At Address chin up and rotate your head slightly to the right. This allows your shoulders to turn more effectively. When wearing Sunglasses it should almost be like your right eye is just seeing the ball. Chin up, rotate head right while maintaining cervical spine alignment #7 Finally, preshot routine: pick out a spot something three +/- feet in front of you to align to while you are behind the ball. There is always something. If it is 4” left aim 4” to the right of said item: tee, divot, funny blade of grass, goose poop, etc. As you approach your setup position align the club face with your attended target line. Come up with a muscle memory trigger. Mine is: 1. Chin up, rotate head 2. Right Knee in 4. Lift club-head off ground slightly 3. Forward press (pushing my wrist toward the target ever so slightly) This creates muscle memory Practice like you play . each ball. cheers and good luck 🍀

I feel like I’m in a similar boat. My ball striking seems to be way above where I’m shooting. Most of the issue alignment. I’ve never broken 80 before, but have shot 3 80s (11) handicap and recently I’ve just been playing badly. Feel like I’ve been trudging through mud for a few months as far as improvement, but hopefully will breakthrough my goal of breaking 80 this summer

Anyone know why Grant would be against hitting a full 56 degree on that 95 yard approach? My 56 is my most consistent 100 yard club, but it was interesting to hear him be so opposed to such a thing, but instead opt for trying to control the distance of the 52 degree instead... It didn't happen to work in this situation and I wish he would have elaborated on why that was still the best strategy!

Hey Golf community, would love if you could tell me, is my putting grip legal, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hNyAf9OE057GZI0.html I started using it about a year and half ago when my putting was just going terribly and had tried a bunch of different grip types, but none were helping, so I just kind of started doing it this way one day and have found that it has improved my putting dramatically. That said I haven't seen anyone else that uses the grip I use and have been told multiple times now by playing partners that it is very unique, and one wondered if it is a legal grip, which I couldn't answer, so thought I would ask some people that might know so I can answer properly next time, Anyways I recorded it last time I played, hope you can check the link and let me know. Thanks Mark

Here’s my assessment on Grant! Any real teacher worth there weight in Doritos is gonna look at your grip and check your balance points and posture! I don’t have behind the scenes look but I can see the club is too much in his left palm and not his fingers! This is why teachers need to not just be decent instagram players! I bet he has no understanding what it even feels like to make a full coil in his backswing seeing as he relatively a new golfer! Your looking at the camera before you go thru the checklist every teacher worth there merit! Changing a grip and setup can make all the difference in the world!!You gotta grow Grant it can’t be the same ol shit always
