All of these are excellent examples of how the SNES brought some beautiful visuals to the 16-bit era, especially Demon's Crest and Dracula X.

SNES was a beast in its late gen era. The fact that PS1 and Saturn were released in late 1994 and we got SNES classics up until 1996 (when N64 was released) just proves how far the console could be pushed.

@@thatvideogamesshow , one thing that I regret that the Kiki Kaikai/Pocky and Rocky franchise never had is a Christian or Jewish character in the franchise. I mean, Christians and Jews literally have more experience fighting against demons/youma than practically anyone else, so why not recruit what is obviously the best people for the job to help the other characters fight against evil?

@@thatvideogamesshow , I literally hit every bad guy in TMNT IV/II: Turtles in Time/Re-Shelled...no retreat, no surrender, no survivors, and no mercy! Oh, and both the home port of the game, as well as the arcade game, are in the TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection as well, so you don't have to choose which game to play anymore. I kind of wish that Playmates made Cement Man, Tora, Shogun, Tempestra, Ninjara, Jagwar, Kunai Guy, Frosty the Hit-Man, Vincent van Growl, Scorpion Bot, Red Boxing Robot, and Blue Boxing Robot figures, as well as the Archie TMNT exclusive characters, and those spiked steamrollers as vehicles, though.

@@adam145 Star Ocean has a compression chip called the SDD-1. The S-DD1 chip is an ASIC decompressor made by Nintendo. Designed to handle data compressed by the ABS Lossless Entropy Algorithm, a form of arithmetic coding developed by Ricoh, its use is necessary in games where massive amounts of sprite data are compressed with a total design limit of 32-megabits. This data is decompressed dynamically by the S-DD1 and given directly to the picture processing unit. The S-DD1 mediates between the Super NES's Ricoh 5A22 CPU and the game's ROM via two buses. However, the controlling 5A22 processor may still request normal, uncompressed data from the game's ROM even if the S-DD1 is already busy with a decompression operation. This form of parallelism allows sprite data to be decompressed while other types of data are quickly passed to the main CPU.

I've only played the PSP version of Star Ocean, But I remember playing a little of the SNES version. It definitely feels like they took what they learned from Tales of Phantasia (the original team left to form tri-Ace and such) and improved some things! Turtles in Time ws my first favorite game back when I was a kid! I was obsessed with TMNT and getting a video game of it was like a dream come true for me! I never finished it though, I wasn't very good at games back then. Gudam Endless Duel looks fun too! I might check it out if they have any G Gundam characters. Demon's Crest I rented from Blockbuster back in the day, but I wasn't very good at t and couldn't beat the first level lol! Dracula X appeals to me because I like Rondo of Blood, though I've only played the RoB versions. I think Dracula X is pretty expensive now unfortunately.

For a long time I've had Star Ocean in my top 10 games that I played... Until i actually played a lot of it... It's weird, it shouldn't get boring bein an action rpg but since the mechanic is just bird's view Tales of Phantasy, we just mash A and spam techs until someone in either side dies. It can be cool for people with a knack of strategy but the controls weren't made for it(not the SNES controller but the controlling scheme, why the hell there is not a method to quickly switch characters or to just control their movement directly) So yeah, Star Ocean is an incredible experience... But you gotta know the combat gets tedious. Fast. Even if you're dying by mistakes, it's not because you're playing wrong, its because you're expected to use positioning tools and rely on AI to control your allies and expect it to hold up to stronger enemies

Castlevania: Dracula X (Akumajō Dracula XX, 悪魔城ドラキュラXX) is certainly a looker, it's a stripped down version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo, 悪魔城ドラキュラX 血の輪廻) for NEC's PC Engine Super CD-ROM². So, if you wanted a full experience of this game, CD with CD-ROM addon for PC Engine was the only way to do it. It meant back then, you needed the obscure console, with even more obscure attachment for the mentioned console in order to experience it in full. Btw, the game was released in Japan ONLY🤨 I honestly don't know what was Konami thinking. Were they thinking?🤔
