This game really needs to be ported to the GBA. I would definitely buy it if it was in GBA

I’ve been playing the game which is fantastic and I really dig what Super Rare Games is doing (especially the mixtapes!). This reminds me of The Klonoa GBA games

I hadn’t installed this yet when I saw this vid come up, soooo made sure to a couple hours ago and gave the game a go before watchin’. I’m a sucker for anything that’s Game Boy-like, has a grappling hook or involves a dog. Aaand this one’s hit all three haha, noice. And made with Game Maker Studio, neato. First thing that struck me were the Mario Sunshine style level intro’s, lookin’ at landmarks and such in the stage. Really liked that. And the music haha, that stuck out right away, very Dreamcast soundin’. Also noice. Spent a few minutes just cruisin’ around the world map in the boat when that first appeared as well, cool idea for a world map that. Know what ye mean about missing out on gems on a levels first try as well. Had one gem I couldnt get, so retried the level. And couldnt get it again. So gave up haha. Would have been cool to be able to warp back to a levels checkpoint or somethin’ similar. Love the presentation, lots of colour and thick outlines. One of my favourite aspects of that GBA era. Kinda Shantae-ish, buuut also reminiscent of Goodboy Galaxy. Which i’m very much looking forward to, so having this game pop up in the meantime hits that platformer-with-a-pooch itch nicely. Along with playing Pupperazi recently too haha. Expected to get a Spider-Man or Bionic Commando vibe from the game, but it ended up having much more of a “Worms Ninja Rope” feel to me. Haven’t played any Worms games in ages buuut kinda called back to those multiplayer times of my childhood when zipping around hitting high-up ledged and rapidly roping my way through levels haha. Love how that kind of momentum’s been plopped in an old school style platform game. The dog woof sounds during the dialogue’s a nice lil touch too, very Banjo-Kazooie. Daww uwu. Playin’ the game on PC and while I had a decent look at the last place I left ‘em, I couldn’t come across any of my PC-able controllers. So ended up using’ the keyboard, which started off a bit ungainly but I ended up getting used to it…most of the time. I find myself hitting K (stomp) instead of J (graple) occasionally whiiich is a bit of a pain. It does take me back to playing DOS games during me childhood though so that’s a bit neat and nostalgic haha. Some kind of mouse control for the grapple (and control stick for controller) might’ve fixed stuff like that along with possibly making the grapple mechanic more fun and accurate. But besides lil things like that I’m enjoyin’ meself with it. Keen to possibly pick it up on Switch sometime though to see how that version plays in comparison. But aye, great vid aaand ye made some very valid points. Will be interestin’ to see how many of those issues pop up as I get further in. And cheers for the heads up with jump-grappling, gon’ have to keep that in mind haha.

The detail and professionalism of this review are absolutely excellent. I’ve had my eye on this one for a while with the intention to definitely pick it up at some point while not preoccupied with playing or picking up other games (both the backlog and to buy lists are endless 😵‍💫🫠🤪!) and this was an exceptionally informative rundown on the game.
