Silage season 2013 at Gavins Ltd Contracting in Waikato, New Zealand.

one common theme from all vids from new zeland and aus is that the silage is raked into 50fts,and even at that the swarts look very small,if they cut a heavier crop of grass like we do here in ireland the harvester wud take 30ft at most.claas 900 for example.

grass doesn't grow out here like it does back in the UK, hotter drier conditions mean it just doesnt get going like UK grass, and grass is only really cut for silage to manage the grazing rotation when it gets away from them

The mower was lifted up over the camera, however it was lifted quite late and the skids brushed the top of the camera case!

James Doyle Using a home made magnetic mount, I didn't film that bit but I think it was just stuck to the frame and the safety chain wrapped round the bar

they are home made 14t trailers built to match the conditions of the local area, they are 3m wide to make them more stable on hills and on the soft peat ground when they sink, keeps them short for negotiating narrow races and gateways as well along with the steering drawbar

MrTrucker199 there are a lot of sheep, but mostly in the South Island where it is mountainous grazing, the more level areas such as North Island and especially the Waikato is big dairy area with very few sheep
