Do you like Old School Drags? Remember what it felt to hit the bars and pubs on Saturday night, then breakfast at the diner and towing the cars to the speedway on Sunday morning? The smell of petrol, the smoked rubber sticking to your skin and the unfiltered raging V8 sound of the Gasser machine. This is it! The most Grassroots event of the year, NZ Gassers at the airfield!
We also had Outlaw 71 to join in and boy, what a treat! Enjoy this 50+ mins of uncontested old school Drag Racing!

This brings back American drag racing to what it was before NHRA turned it into an unaffordable sport for people. Bring back the picnic style racing of the 60s !

Running on emty is freaking scary..i lov it ❤... Gassers are my fav hotrods.. Just so diff.. I went to alot of hotrod shows in the 80s and they thought it was so cool to make there cars so super pretty and nice 🙄... I like the old mean ugly cars way better.. That sound like a angry dragon..

That car is so savage, it did 8sec passes before the owner turned down the boost. It still makes 1000hp and it's a force to be reckoned with

Make sure the 4 speed is a Jericho gearbox, they're super sturdy and durable

The roof chopped nova was detuned to the max to run on this track. it was running 12lb boost usually 23-30lb

Yes that is correct, if you watch the incar footage facing forward you may notice a safety device is installed on the throttle lever to limit its action and opening. Many cars had traction issues that day

@@musclecars.universe we've built two gassers. A 61 Ford F100 unibody. It has a small block with tunnel ram and a quick change rear end. Gathered parts to make it. Correct. The Fairlane is a big block with mechanical injection. Both built with period correct parts where possible. Both of them look like they came out of the past and we're always race cars. We're also building a land speed former NASCAR. And a turbocharged small block pinto. We have our hands full. Plenty of stuff to make content from
