Flying my 45 years old Graupner Cirrus at the Grasshill in nice conditions

That's the model that got me hooked on RC Sailplane as a kid. Glad they're still around.

We have had 2 in my club for some years now, and just got the 3. one that will have the remaiden flight very soon :) (And also a Cirrus 75) :)

This was my first “larger” glider when I was 17 in 1975. If I remember well my Cirrus had a lot of adverse yaw and the ailerons were not very effective. Thanks for posting, this video brought back some nice memories Regards

I was 18 in 1975 when I got this one :) And yes It has slow control but flying performance is still good.

🐨🌍this brought back memories flew Cirrus mid 70s .buy glass fuse .built off plans..made 3 over the years. keep well. Keith Australia

Now that is a flexible wing spar. And the Cirrus seems to catch every bit off lift available. 😎👍

Gorgeous videos. Love the look of the Graupner Cirrus. Would love to purchase an equivalent or find one that is reasonably priced. I had a Square Soar for years and should have kept it. Used it to learn slope soaring. The Cirrus (2m would be preferred) would be quite the upgrade in price.

Still can buy them sometimes. Had a friend who flew with me had one in the early 80's and it use to find thermals better than any glider I had. Also he use to trim it up for landing and place transmitter on ground and watch it land it self !!!. Just a wonderful glider. Great video !!!

Yes, sometimes you can find a kit on Ebay :) It is pretty easy to fly nice thermal turns with it, compared to my Arthobby Silent :) Some years ago I cut the the nose and installed a motor and it flew as my only motorglider for around 3 years.

Very nicely piloted and to me, looks a great flyer.. even with its fair amount of wing flex. Might keep my eye out for one. What is the construction type/materials of this?

The fuselage is plastic, and the wing and tail is normal balsa build

Nice Cirrus. Nice flight. I have a Cirrus plastic ( original ) fuselage, plans, instruction book and some sparce parts of a Graupner kit. For shure I am able to complete the kit and build this Cirrus. As the glider needs be built yet, do you sugests some wing reinforcement or any other modifying in the original plan?

Just be sure to make it with ailerons 👍😃 then you also will have spoilerons 👍😃

@@SpeedsterDEN my concerns are about wing spars and it's "old style" wing joiners. As I still have to build it for shure this is the time to inquire people that fly Cirrus about.

@@claudiocosta795 The wing spar and wing steel is ok for normal sporty flying. I flew mine for some year as a motorglider with 3600 mha battery, and still with the extra weight it was no problem to fly mild aerobatic. It is a old lady, and should be flown with care, because there is not many left. :)

@@claudiocosta795 As I recall it was a Turnigy 2836- 1000 and 40 amp esc and 10x6 prop
