Fred Thompson and I worked at the same law firm in D.C. during the late-80's/early-90's. Only met him once, but found him a lovely Southern gentleman. Tall, too!

My dad's family is from Lawrenceburg. My Aunt worked at the same Murry bicycle plant Fred did. My Uncle, Preston F. Hyde, was killed on the island of Tarawa, during WWII . He was with the 2nd Marine Division. November 20, 1942. I believe he and my other family members are buried at that cemetery.

I met him when I was in the US Navy. Very nice and he asked educated questions about our helo and our destroyer.

Fred was in Hollywood before he was in Washington. Let me revise that to before he was in the Senate. He was in Washington with Senator Baker during the Watergate era.

My favorite role of his was in the 1994 comedy Baby's Day Out as the FBI agent in charge of the kidnapping investigation. He also appeared in a couple episodes of Matlock, both times playing an attorney. His final acting role was a cameo in God's Not Dead 2, which was released shortly after his death and the film was dedicated to his memory. You didn't mention that he was also at one time married to country music star Lorrie Morgan. She spoke highly of him, saying that he was a good man but their marriage didn't work because they rarely were together due to their work schedules. I actually wanted to vote for him for President in 2008, but he dropped out before my state's primary.

As far as I know..he and Lori Morgan never married but did date. They partied ways but never had anything bad to say about each other.

The only thing I remember seeing him in is his portrayal of Arthur Branch in Law & Order. I've loved the entire run of the show with all the different actors. My fave actor in the series has to be Lenny Briscoe played by Jerry Orbach because of all the wise cracks.
