Ty Cobb was an unforgettable baseball player and that is all I knew of him. Thank you for sharing what he did after the baseball career. What a wonderful man and what he did for Royston and how people loved him. I think his mom and dad were proud of him and they are all together now.

Royston does it right by paying tribute to an important person from the community! It always fascinates me when people like Ty Cobb are not only good, but exceptional. Good for him for taking a tragedy in his family and using for good not only in his baseball career, but in business and giving back.

A great museum. Been there a few times. He was , and still is the Greatest Baseball Player who lived. That statue was at Turner field but they donated to Royston. There is a book written by Charles Leerhesen that dispels alot of rumors about Cobb. A very good read! Oh by the way, that movie Cobb with Tommy Lee Jones was based on a book of lies written by a liar. He was a very generous man. Built ballfields for both Black and White kids to play on . If you get a chance, come by Royston and ck. It out!!

I'm 4 years late but this was wonderful. Sorry you missed Ty Cobb Field , which is where he learned baseball as a boy. It's also right in town there and still there. Also, you can visit his birthplace at The Narrows, off hwy. 441. on hwy. 105. I visited both places on my video.

It was located kinda diagnal across the street from the library You filmed. It's vacant lot now. I live in next county over. Worked at a little radio station that was over There back in 90's. Can remember when the people from Royston were upset when Movie came out. Would have loved to have met you. Enjoying your videos!!

I never liked the movie as it portrayed a mean old man and i wished it would have depicted more of his baseball greatness. He was the best. When they tore down the old tiger stadium it crushed me. It was a historical place. Great vlog Jordan👍🏻😎

I was born in South West Detroit 2 miles from the old tiger stadium I remember in the 60s as a kid going there with my dad Exspecialy Bat,Ball,Hat and Glove days and the Great player's like Al Kaline,Alan Trammell, Willie Horton just to name a few and remember when they won the series in 68 and 84 it broke my heart also when they tore down the old stadium , Comerica Park is nice but the Old tiger stadium was Historical and and lots of beautiful memories of my childhood , their changing a lot of stuff there when I come back to visit it's not like going back home anymore and now their building a new bridge and going to tare down the Ambassador Bridge another Historic land mark it's nice that they are naming it after Gordy Howle one of the best Detroit Redwings Hockey Players but should NOT tare down the Ambassador Bridge!

@@wayneworley1293 we have alot in commen with memories of tiger stadium. Thanks for sharing. I also remember Horton Cash Kaline ...mark the Bird Fidrich. And of course a bunch of others. Gibson and Kemp. Parrish. Even the guy who danced when they were grooming the field. Yes sir. Ty Cobb played there and so did the Babe and all of the legends of baseball....and football. George Kell and Al Kaline on TV . I miss those days Comerica is nice but everywhere you sit...your so far away from the game. I will always miss it.

I'm so glad you did this vlog. I started reading about Ty a few months ago and came to realize he wasn't some bigoted monster. He went to Negro League games and hung out in the dugout with them. He was a staunch defender of allowing them to play on white teams. The only time he really lost his temper and did beat up a guy in the stands was because the guy had been heckling him in game after game. The dude was disabled somehow but ran his mouth just fine and one day Ty lost it and it got blown way out of proportion. When he was managing the A's in 1927-1928, my husband's grandfather had been signed by Connie Mack. His name was John Lloyd Powers but they all called him Ike. He was said to be one of the few people who enjoyed rooming with Ty! He could be grumpy and drink a little (he was in his early 40's then) but Ike idolized him. He unfortunately chipped a bone in his hand and that put him back in the minors because he was a pitcher. Ike and Lefty Grove were lifelong friends who lived in little towns in Western Maryland not too far apart. They both owned pool rooms and visited each other frequently. Had a guy tell me all everyone quit shooting pool when they got together and talked baseball. A bit off topic, but I do hope you get to Cooperstown, we need to go there since his grandfather is acknowledged there. I really do feel differently about Ty than I did before I did a little research. Yours was spot on, this is a fantastic vlog. 😃

Many young people may not ever have heard of him and I appreciate you taking the time on the July 4th holiday to go to his birthplace and highlight this great athlete of long ago. It was for him anyway and he was the greatest Detroit Tiger and unquestionably one of the greatest ball players of his or any era.
