it is actually for ballistic missile, with the re entry speed M 20, 600 km away, with accuracy to 26 cm. so if use Agni 5 as example, any Agni 5 to China will be intercepted,

To be fair, even israel failed to intercept many of the Kheibar missile 2 months ago which has a max speed of just around Mach 5. Intercepting a Mach-20 missile would be much much harder...

Your comment is true if laser were used as a thermal weapon, not if laser is used to create a scattering/reflection signal for triangulation by several spatially distributed single photon sensitivity receivers.

It is definitely a a step forward towards next generation radar - Photonic Radar. So far, this has been on paper backed with calculations & theory. It will take a few more years for China to produce a physical prototype radar for test. I am hoping this new technology is not solely used for military purpose but for peaceful applications as well. Since the 90s of the last century, we have have already witnessed rapid progress in China on many fronts.. technology, infrastructure, economy etc.. I personally do not doubt their capability to be the 1st country to have Photonic Radar. BTW, I am also not surprised that the Indian news anchor scorned at this claim and then gave her own opinion, instead of objectively reporting it? Why do WION want to do this reporting in the 1st place if they choose not to trust this news? 🤣

Probably a form of Lidar system. China is today the biggest and most advanced manufacturer of Lidar systems, a Lidar will work but limited by visual limitations.
