I am watching from Papua New Guinea and I am pleased to see that India is designing a 5th Generation fighter jet. Being the Largest democracy it has a inalienable obligation to defend itself and the small democracy around the World. The world has come to a stage of military superiority domain by countries of the communist block and the democratic nation so India has to show caution in its design to protect its democratic status along with US England and the western democracies.

Its starts when a jet has been delivered to an Air Force (Squadron). Lets give your Air Force a couple of years to bring that impeccable record back to the ground. You guys never fail to disappoint. Afterall, you lot have the World Record for most Crashes in a Calendar Year: 28 January: Jaguar crashed shortly after takeoff in Uttar Pradesh. 01 February: A Mirage 2000 crashed while on an acceptance sortie after being upgraded by state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) killing both Pilots. 12 February: A MiG-27 crashed at the Pokhran firing range. 19 February: Two Hawk aircraft of Surya Kiran aerobatic team crashed after hitting each other mid-air during a rehearsal for the AeroIndia Show. As an Indian it's a proud movement but we should really be looking at developing 7th gen fighters like other countries. Many countries already have 5th gen fighters and by the time we develop our own 5th gen fighters it will be outdated.

Be practical , it will take 20 years of research and development to develop 5th gen fighter jets for India . Tejas took about 30 years that also engine and other major equipments are imported .

If the RCS of this new jet is more than golf ball size then it is not the 5 generation goodie. Su-57 is not 5th generation, its RCS is 10s times or more that of F22s or F35s.

India has sold Brahmos to Vietnam and Philippines and Chinese weapons systems and radars are unable to detect Brahmos. There are no takers for Chinese trash except Pakistanis and North Koreans because that's all they can afford.

Pakistan also failed to detect Iranian missiles as well. China doesn't have a cruise missile equivalent to Brahmos yet by their own admission.If China has hypersonic interceptor why did it buy S400? S400 cannot intercept hypersonic missiles. Leave it to a Pakistani to make things up. No existing air defence systems can assuredly intercept hypersonic missiles. Paki says China already has hypersonic interceptor LOL. There are no takers for Chinese trash except Pakistanis and North Koreans because that's all they can afford.

I am going to be honest. India took 40+ years to make a LCA. I am not sure what cheap drugs some people are on to claim that India can make a 5th gen domestic aircraft soon. I cannot see India having any 5th gen capability till 2040 at the minimum. Also the reporter is incorrect. There are multiple 5th gen fighters in production. Some that are not mentioned are J-31, TAI KAAN, Korean K-21 Boramae. This is not to mention the joint Japanese-European 5th gen in development.

Tejas project started in the 1980s, and the jet still hasn't completely been rolled out. How many of these 5th gen jets are in flight trials now?? We got 2 eagles protecting our skies. Great news.. Calling it a flock!? And what's with the sloppy editing - showing a Ghatak as a chinese ornicopter, a Sea King as an "Advanced" ALH? ?

Don’t forget congress who stopped the project this is not only one instance congress stopped this types prestigious projects even congress tried stopping ganganyaan india s first home built human mission but these projects got saved when the new government came to power

@Mars5637. Absolutely true. There's a massive mess to fix. The level of corruption was insane.. People still don't realise it, but they're living amongst legends- Amit Shah and PM Modi are organising the largest scale of reforms any democratic country's seen in history. They're the best thing to have happened since India gained independence.
